The renderings looked really nice - I think this is a perfect location for the CPD and it should be a great contributor to that neighborhood.  Hopefully, a morale booster for our folks in blue once they’re in new digs.

Since this is on the inside of the innerbelt isn't this considered downtown. 

To any contractors out there. Do we believe this can be done well for the price they're stating?

Isn't the Blade sign supposed to read CPD? Or does CDP stand for Cleveland Department of Police?

^I hope they do something to the first floor to open it up, but given it is a police headquarters I doubt it.  I hope they at least have some plan to deal with the contrasting brick.  It really looks bad.  Back in the day when every body was bricking up 1st floors (I would imagine primarily for security reasons) little thought was given to architectural integrity.  As much as I complain about Landmarks, at least today, in one of the districts they cover, this type of treatment would not be approved.

The renderings show windows being restored.

The trees and greenery always look so nice in the renderings.  It looks like they plan on adding some more behind the building.   I assume the police museum in the current HQ will be moved to the new building.

^ That parking deck is now clearly visible as you drive past it on I-90. It seemed to spring out of nowhere last week.

SOOOOO TRUE!  If only a certain NFL owner of a poorly managed but community-beloved sports team would have the same love and interest in Cleveland's future as the developers of the CPD HQ and their neighbors Cross Country Mortgage and GBX among many others.

Nice shot of Crystal Tower, Little Mountain, and Mount Gildersleeve in the upper right.   By some definitions the last two are the beginning of the Allegheny plateau.

Oh good. I honestly couldn't tell if these were still the old windows and going to be removed. Those  buildings just seem to look ominous with "normal" non-paneled windows, I think.

There are no plans for any decorative panels on the garage. I don't mind that since it keeps with the industrial nature of the existing building.

Valid point. Thanks for the rendering.  We love the Giant CPD badge sign that should be seen from the innerbelt.  Wonder if it is repeated on the water tower on the roof.  This pic does give us a Gotham City vibe - maybe they could add a CPD spotlight version of the bat signal.

I'm pretty sure I've seen other renderings that have the CPD badge on the water tower, hope I'm not making that up. 

 

Also, this is Superman's turf. Can't be putting up any bat-signals.

I mean it faces the highway on ramp this is the first time I don't mind seeing a plain garage built.

I've been following this project and the larger development of the area closely for awhile now.  Turner was working on this project initially, now it seems they're off the job and Independence Construction has taken over.  Not sure if this was a budget issue or what.  I've already put some feelers out to see what the deal was but if anyone wants to share here, go ahead

I think you mistook Turner for TurnDev. It’s a TurnDev project. 

I assume they are keeping the water tank on the roof.

TurnDev is the developer.  I'm very familiar with them.  I'm talking about Turner Construction company, who was doing the initial phase of demo/windows, site work, etc.  They've apparently been replaced with Independence Construction.  not sure if they were out bid on next GMP or what but seems odd in my opinion to switch gears in middle of a project like that

This job does seem to be taking an awful long time.  I wonder if that has something to do with it, or who knows what the planned move in date was at the outset.

agreed.  For a building that was already in place and needed modifications, it's been a slow moving process.  At least 2 years already by my count.  I would also attribute some of the slowness to the client, City of Cleveland PD.  I'm sure they are slow to make decisions, give approvals, etc.

Nothing to do with that. The building has unexpected structural issues that needed massive remediation. Hence why the garage is done and the interior has barely started.
