Posted July 5, 20177 yr It being a council, mayor, and school board election year, there were a ton of candidate entries in this year's parade. Somebody vandalized the newly renovated KFC/Taco Bell: He IS Authentic: The Cincinnati Waterworks celebrates its 200th Anniversary: I missed getting a good shot of this water tower...somebody put way too much time into making this thing: Northside Yacht Club: Kevin Feldman, owner of Milton's Pub: Rocking the vintage WOXY shirt: I think these are the people who do that sword fighting in Burnett Woods:
July 5, 20177 yr Love. Thank you for capturing. Yellowstone was a good distraction from not being in Cincinnati this summer to watch/be in the parade.
July 6, 20177 yr If people are going to walk in a parade and make a float or make costumes, they need to at least let us know who they are. There were so many random groups that had put a lot of effort into their parade appearance but did not give us any indication of who they are or why they were in the parade. Also... nice shot of pointycollars[/member] in the Greg Dulli shirt!
July 6, 20177 yr Yeah, there was generally either too much or too little space between the entries. So there were several 10-minute gaps but then mad rushes of 4-5-6 entries. They could better run the parade by having an official at Chase keep a solid 100 feet between each entry. Also, we didn't know who the politicians were, either. Even for someone who follows local affairs, I had no idea who the actual candidate was in many of those groups. Reviewing the photos, it's pretty obvious that Amy Murray knew what she was doing by walking in front of her sign and with a dog. The candidates should generally walk in front of their banner wearing clothes that distinguish them from their volunteers. The guy with the big head cardboard cut-outs -- great idea but I didn't see him anywhere (he might have been there, but who knows?)! Also, having your volunteers do an entry but not walking with them because you're on vacation or whatever is just bad form. I know what Ryan Messer looks like and he was nowhere to be seen. Also, I suspect that a few of the school board candidates were simply riding in the AC. Sure, it was hot, but this is a chance for people to physically see you. Yvette Simpson was running around like a madman from one side of the parade route to the next shaking hands and kissing babies. That's why I couldn't get a good photo of her. Expert politicians know where the cameras are and the sort of photo the photographers want. When you do a press release, you basically write the story for a publication. Same with photos -- give the media images that they won't hesitate to run. Make it easy for them!
July 6, 20177 yr Quite a few UOers in these photos. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
