Wish it was easier to post photos on here, I do not have a computer, just an old iPad. not that savvy with tech. Have a bunch of photos of Cleveland from way back in the day. Is there anyway you moderators can do something to post photos on here? Like if you send a text to someone, and there is that little icon you hit to post a pic. So much easier. If there is another thread for this please move it there.

You should be able to attach photos to threads.  I've never tried it with an Ipad, but I'm sure it's possible.

I try to do attachments, doesn't let met post photos. To much of a pain to use Dropbox and put the photo there. And then try to get it on here.

Imgur is very easy to use - I usually upload photos there and post links here. Click on"new post" and you can just drag and drop, and then post a link to the gallery here:

www.urbanohio.com is currently unable to handle this request.

Although I received the error above it was posting. Please delete the dups thank you.

could someone sell me on a new image hosting service?

i am sick of photobucket. i must be the last person using it anyway because its sucked for year lol. they are going to do some more changes as of june 1st, not sure exactly what, but i want no part of it.

the only image host caveat is i would like something that will likely be around for awhile, google maybe?

thanks for any suggestions --

Flickr is always good.

Flickr has a 1,000 photo limit for free accounts just FYI. Not sure if you're looking to pay for something. I don't have any suggestions for free services, but posting images from Flickr is pretty simple. They create the code for you.

didn't photobucket, which was free when I started using it, all of a sudden start charging $399 annually? That's why I stopped using it. You're not paying that, are you??

Edited by eastvillagedon

^ no, that never happened lol. maybe for businesses i dk.

also, yes all the hosting services are free to start, but eventually at some point you have to pay.

I had been paying $2.99/mo for awhile w/pb & i think less if you paid for the whole year, which was ok.

however, pb jerked their binnis around again, raised the prices, basically redesigned the editing and hid the dam image resizing, i can't figure it out, slowed down the access as they are making more changes, which take effect in june they say, and worst of all now my more than adequate service level gets image hosting limited to 25mb/mo.

so, my question is, what do you all pay for hosting these days? if they work out the bugs in the next couple months, does anyone think the next level $6.99 is fair ??? its almost doubling what i pay now, but also --- i have no idea what people pay on other hosting services -- do you know if these new pb prices are in line with your host and other host services ???  thanks!

The mobile phone site wont let me post pics from my I phone any more.....keep getting error message that I'm only allowed 1.12 MB.....but it allowed me to post pics for awhile...what am I doing wrong?

Lucky you. I can't even post images of more than 10KB. That takes me back to my Commodore 64 I had 30+ years ago....

Regular members are only allowed to upload 100MB’s worth of pictures. That is the issue, but maybe we need to increase the limit.

I’ve doubled the amount of attachments users can upload. It is now set at 200MB per user.

Photobucket is experiencing problems right now:

SERVICE DISRUPTION UPDATE 12/24: Our systems are running through continuous verification processes as they come back online. Unfortunately, this is taking longer than we would like, but we want to confirm everything is cross checked, secure and verified. We do not have a firm completion date, but we are hoping this will be resolved soon. We will report back as progress continues. We apologize for the recent service disruption that you have been experiencing these last few days.

We apologize for the recent service disruption that you have been experiencing these last few days.

We deeply regret that this happened and we are working around the clock to bring photobucket.com back online.

First and foremost, your images are safe. Our number one priority is to ensure that your images are secure and we have several systems in place to make sure nothing is compromised.

We will provide ongoing updates as we make progress to finding the full solution.

What happened?

On Wednesday, December 18th we experienced a total power outage at our primary data center. Due to the abrupt nature of the outage the equipment that runs the site shutdown unexpectedly. The immediate shutdown resulted in systematic issues when the power was restored. Unfortunately, due to this unexpected shutdown, we were also not able to rely on our backup data center resources.

What are we doing right now?

The process is taking longer than expected because the security we have in place requires additional processing time. Most importantly, our primary focus is to ensure your photos are safe and secure!

What are we doing to prevent these situations going forward?

We are in the process of migrating Photobucket to a more reliable environment. The environment will give us more stability and help us reduce these issues in the future. Once service is restored, our primary focus will be on moving your beloved images to this environment.

We understand your frustration and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Thank you for your ongoing support,

Ted

photobucket just did an upgrade and basically booted me out from uploading photos even though i still have a ton storage available. the catch is they have an image limit. of course, they have a solution for that, an $11.99/mo upgrade for all unlimited.

i think i'm finally moving on to google photos now. can anyone give a review of that service? unlimited free uploads sounds good, but i dk? gracias.

Will the 3rd party embedding impact photo posting?

No. Linking photos from photo sharing sites is highly encouraged.

Has the ability to embed images from 3rd party sites been removed? The BBCode-style syntax no longer appears to work.

It's being disabled in a future release so it was recommended to turn it off in the mean time.  I"ve enabled it once again.

Below is what is in the BBC section:

Quote

BBCode is a legacy markup language that was originally designed to allow users to submit rich content prior to the advancement of WYSIWYG editors. BBCode support is deprecated and may be removed in a future release, and we recommend leaving this option disabled for greater performance and reliability if your community does not rely on BBCode parsing to format posts.

@richNcincy@ColDayMan I don't know if it's something I'm doing but for whatever reason, the photos I upload to an existing thread won't post in the order I've uploaded them. I've kept the naming convention sequential, and uploaded them in batches of ten (gtiii2020_80, gtiii2020_81, etc.) and they still get jumbled. Any suggestions?

UOpics.PNG

Once they've been uploaded there you can click on them one at a time to add them to the post in the order you want.  Click on the + symbol and it will add it in the order you click them.  Hopefully that makes sense.

What's the easiest way to embed photos from Google Photos? Do I need to grab the URL for each photo, and then insert into the post via "Other Media > Insert image from URL"? Seems kinda tedious. Not the end of the world, but would be nice if there were a more integrated option.

I think you can use the old BBCode syntax still, if you find typing it out manually to be faster:

Although this may work now, BBC code support will be dropped in future versions of our forum software.

Yes.  Instagram and Facebook both altered their code quite significantly recently and it broke the auto-embed feature with our software.  They are aware of the problem but there is no ETA for a fix yet.
