But they will be fine. People don't decide to go to a certain area based on how easy it is to park there. People are smart. If there is something there that they want to visit...they will find a way to get there. My hope is that when this new parking garage is built, it will serve the parking needs of the market and nearby businesses, and the Findlay Market/city-owned lots in the neighborhood can be redeveloped. The north lot would be a great location for a second market house, and the south lot is a prime location for new apartment or condo buildings as the North of Liberty area starts to redevelop.

This makes them look stupid to their passengers and causes arguments and stress. And then there is the terrifying act of skillfully executing a parallel parking move, something that has not changed since they took their drivers license exam. The cost of parking is truly secondary. And as for Findlay market vendors, if anything, the last 15 years seems to have shown that if you want the market to thrive, just do whatever the current vendors say will destroy their business.

Yeah I wouldn't underestimate the embarrassment people experience with wayfinding and parking...I have listened to endless complaints from grandparents and other old people about getting "in-and-out" of "such-and-such" hospital. Old people literally make significant medical decisions based on parking. The "hassle" of Clifton is a big motivator for all of the suburban hospitals and medical offices. As for the stadium, I walked around and took photos on Jan 1 but might not be able to upload soon. What strikes me at the moment is how far apart the opposing sets of grandstands are. They're probably 75-100 feet farther apart than the new nearby Stargel football field. Also, the newly completed Stargel has some very weird signage facing Ezzard Charles. The text on the awning physically blocks the view of the "Cincinnati Public Schools" signage. Total incompetence by the designer.

January 17, 20205 yr A 10 store building will be quite nice! I'm hoping that the daycare part is true. It's really hard finding a legit daycare in the urban core that is reputable. This might be a small thing, but that is a huge barrier for some younger millenial couples with kids to move down to the urban core because of the lack of quality day cares.

January 17, 20205 yr The additional development is just another way for the team owners to generate revenue. I'm sure they have some people working on potential ideas but the main focus is making sure the stadium is finished and ready to be open by next season. Once it's open then they can shift focus fully to the other developments. Purely guessing but since the stadium opens spring of 2021 I'd then give them another 1-2 years to develop plans, get them approved and build. So I'd think summer of 2022 to spring of 2023 is the earliest we'll see these developments open.

Well, the smaller building isn't facing Liberty, it's facing Bauer Avenue, a narrow street. I assume that the team will want to demolish the former church/synagogue as soon as possible so that this development is at least visible from Liberty. And in the long term, maybe put another building between Bauer and Liberty.

Do they own the tire store and other land east of the church? If they don't yet I'm guessing they will in the future. Anything up against Liberty or Central Pkwy should really be able to have some height and hopefully density.

They could be a perfect fit and utilize the parking next to the stadium during the middle of the week day. Any residential on a large scale may prefer to have a separate parking garage built underneath their buildings so residents don't have to move during games.

They didn’t include hotel as a use, I’m guessing because they have that earmarked for the ballet space.

Traveling supporter fans is a big thing in mls, so I definitely think a nearby stadium hotel could nicely support traveling away fans, and greater cincinnatians who don't go to every fcc game but want to make an mini vacation from it (like nearby dayton). Only hotel options are still only cbd/banks/uptown. Still nothing in otr/west end.

And it's only ~3 stories at the northeast corner. Ideally, it would be integrated into with surrounding buildings that "fill" the entire site.
January 20, 20205 yr Page 111 of the planning document shows the 10 story building labeled as office, and my guess is that is the intention. I also would like to see Tri-State renovated, it would be similar in scale and style to the loft project in Bellevue, but if not everything can be saved i think the focus should be on Revelation Baptist Church (the historic portion) and Ollie's Trolley. I would be very upset if Ollie's got forced out instead of getting to benefit from all the potential costumer's coming to the stadium.

There are obviously way more Cubs fans at a Reds game than there would be Chicago Fire fans at an FCC game. But there are also way more Cubs fans living in Cincinnati than Chicago Fire fans. So how many are traveling is tough to say. I would also venture to guess there are more Sporting Kansas City fans traveling to Cincinnati than there are Royals fans traveling to Cincinnati (though there may be Royals fans living in Cincinnati who go to the games). You also don't have a designated area for visiting fans at MLB or NFL games (though they often try to sit by their team's dugout/bench, there's usually no coordinated purchasing by the fans). 90%+ of visiting fans at FCC games sit in a block together.
January 29, 20205 yr I still think they should build a hotel and think it would do well. Between FCC games, other events/concerts at the stadium, Music Hall, Memorial Hall, Shakespeare Theater and just those visiting to check out OTR I think there is definitely enough demand to support a smaller hotel.

February 26, 20205 yr Seems to me that with the price FC is paying for all of those smaller properties, they always had plenty of money to complete this project without taxpayer subsidy. Our dollars helped FC to tear down our own city....makes me sick. I'd gladly trade any of the 19th century homes or the church for that anonymous garage.

I understand the skepticism from @10albersa but I'm hoping the city/county won't let FCC use the chunks of land adjacent to Bauer and Central Ave as surface parking, in which case those parcels will have no value until they're built on.
