July 17, 20195 yr I'm actually most interested to see how the development around the site comes together. That is what will activate this area of the West End/OTR. I imagine it will happen more quickly then the development between the stadiums at the Banks. It will be interesting to see how they design the development to wrap around the East and North sides of the stadium site.
July 17, 20195 yr I'm fairly happy with the changes and think it looks a lot better now (I'm also a fan of PBS' elements so YMMV on my takes, ha). I initially was a bit disappointed with the design, but as @ryanlammi pointed out—anything they would've done to make it look "old" or "blend in" with bricks, etc. would've just come off tacky and cheap. Hopefully once some of the development fills in, it'll blend in a bit better. Overall, I really like the "fins" as opposed to the orange blob originally envisioned. Only things I don't particularly care for: The Southeast corner originally had a cut out in the structure that allowed spectators inside to have a clear view of the skyline, it's now been replaced by a video screen. Although, this may have been for sound mitigation/Music Hall considerations and might've just come off as bland as GABP's "gap." Minnesota has a really cool promenade/plaza with a retro scoreboard. So far, our interior doesn't seem to have any unique elements, but those may be revealed later. As a season ticket holder in the current supporter section, I'm very happy that safe-standing is coming. The next steps I'm cautiously watching, though, are development and connectivity. Whatever gets built nearby needs to be useful and not look like Oakley Station or a Blue Ash strip mall. And while this may not all be on the club: the city needs to really connect this thing to other areas. Streetcar operations need to be tailored for matchday capacity; there are multiple bus routes nearby that need to be promoted as connecting with Clifton, Northside, the westside; the bike lane on CPKWY needs to be cleaned up to encourage cycling and red bikes, etc. Although, no matter who is mayor by then, I doubt any of them will be able to Google another city and take any interest in how any of that could work.

July 17, 20195 yr Aside from making more money, the added suites help keep costs down for other tickets. One of their stated goals is to have one of the lowest price points in MLS (maybe not average, but median, at least). This would help achieve that goal without sacrificing spending levels on players, academies, facilities, etc.

Well, The Bengals did have The Bird Band: I wasn't allowed to go to Bengals games when I was a kid. Specifically, it was my grandma who didn't allow it, because of the "drunks" and the "foul language". Around age 9 my dad took me to a game without her knowledge, and as grandma warned, the scene in the stands was...boorish. But down at the end of the astroturf end zone was a corny old-guy band set up under what looked like a shipping container. It was the fabled Bird Band.

July 24, 20195 yr Both the Jehovah's and Revelation Baptist Church have been transferred, but the $'s are not listed on the auditor's site. Revelation closed on May 11 and is now owned by West End Holdings, which is the team. The Jehovah's Witness property transferred on July 11 and is now owned by the Port Authority. I drove past today and the landscaping has already become overgrown. Also, the former Kuhfer's Lofts on the north side of Wade St. now has a FSBO sign on it. The two condos they completed were represented by Shawn Baker & Michael Teggert but neither sold. No small-time owners remain on the 400 block of Wade. Everything is owned by a checkerboard of LLC's. The speculator who got the small corner lot at the corner of Wade & Central Ave. in 2015 from the auditor is still holding out, and the mysterious Lloyd Tate still owns the lot at the SW corner of Bauer & Central Ave. I know that various parties have been trying to track him down for six months and either the guy can't be found or he is ill or he is being amazingly defiant.

August 7, 20195 yr I'm not sure if it was said on here or not , but I think this would be perfect for the Team Store or some type of team/community event center (Maybe replace Seven Hills Center since it really doesn't fit well with the neighborhood). Build whatever kind of infill you want around it but saving this would be a wise decision by the FC leadership from a PR perspective. I say that as a West End resident and an FC season ticket holder. It is clear that the focus is using Liberty street to get people from I-71 to the stadium and that those cars are of the utmost importance.

Liberty Diet is still happening...Last I heard it was still on track to begin next year. In regards to the Ballet building, on one hand a parking garage replacing that site is truly a waste. On the other hand, a premier modern ballet facility in a downtown location (the empty lot Walnut St next to the downtown library would be a great spot) would both enhance the programs mission in recruiting top talent, but also become more visible to the public eye.

Larger sidewalks (assuming repaved), pedestrian islands filled with trees and planters. It might be half baked, but it will definitely look a tad more prettier when all is said and done.

I agree with the premise but hope they don't go with shitty chains like Bar Louie and B-Dubs. Just do a couple simple sports bar like Holy Grail. Maybe get one of the local breweries to build a brewpub there. Anything local would be better then a national chain.

MLS requirement new expansion stadiums to be built in an urban environment close to the downtown urban core. They probably didn't find Oakley urban enough to their liking.

August 24, 20195 yr I love the location of the soccer stadium. Its the perfect location for keeping development going in the city center. What was a barren landscape with abandoned buildings, remnants of businesses long gone, not to mention a butt ugly entrance to the downtown area, is now going to be a beautiful stadium, a money maker for the city and enticement for new development. Some developer is going to see the advantage of offices, entertainment venues and housing along Central Parkway and Liberty St. Parking garages could surround the stadium and with some imagination hidden with shopping, restaurants and apartments. It seems like a great place for people who would like to walk to work, and still own a car. In a few years after new development and normalcy returns, the stadium will become a good neighbor. The area will be cleaner, pedestrians will be more plentiful, which will cause businesses to open, (until the robots takeover)and employment for the locals. For example Findley market is a thing and could become a bigger thing if it were surrounded by shopping and people. The brewery trail is a thing but could become a bigger thing with Octoberfest bar walks, a soccer filled weekend, a stroll thru OTR. In my opinion, soccer will become bigger and bigger in the next decade. Cincinnati will have three stadiums that can accommodate full size legal soccer meets. That could mean tournaments, and even soccer conventioneers. Maybe an annual socca-con. futbol-con. Who knows. How about a soccer museum in the abandoned building recently used by churches.
