Posted October 4, 200420 yr New Philadelphia, ohio population: 17,056. seat of tuscarawas county. (tusk-a-row-uhs). battled dover(neighboring city) for county seat title back in 1808. named because the founder came from philadelphia. they planned the place based on things that philadelphia has. more can be read on the marker below.
October 4, 200420 yr If the best they could of done for their historical marker was a series of maps showing how the county was laid out, then they should of found another topic or sent that marker elsewhere. :(
October 6, 200420 yr maybe there's some rule saying that all counties get a minimum number of historical markers?....and thats all they could come up with. or the county blackmailed them for it...
