The Mirage has been my go-to Vegas hotel for over 20 years and I’ve been there probably once a year on an average. I had no idea that tram even existed.

The tram made sense when they were sister properties, but TI was sold in 2009 so I’m surprised it didn’t shut down 15 years ago.

^ oh and the article has an update that the old tram is supposedly coming back when the hard rock opens.

The Mirage has officially closed and the three year process of gutting everything and rebuilding it as Hard Rock is about to begin.

Bellagio is planning to construct an addition along the south side of its lake, replacing the covered walkway that's there now with new retail and restaurant space.

The Neon Museum is planning to move from its current location and is considering two possible sites in the Arts District. I think this will go a long way towards bringing more foot traffic to the Arts District which has been growing fast over the past decade and is now home to many great shops, restaurants, bars and breweries. The only question is what happens to the old La Concha Motel building which was saved from demolition and relocated to the Neon Museum's current site.

A proposal for twin towers for residences and hotel rooms where the Riviera once stood sailed through a Clark County Zoning Commission review Wednesday.

A rendering of Brett Torino's mixed-use attraction featuring two 600-foot towers and a 439-foot amusement ride on 10 acres south of Fontainebleau Las Vegas was reviewed and approved Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024, by the Clark County Zoning Commission.

The Margaritaville signage in that rendering is curious. I doubt they would include that if they weren't in talks to brand the casino a Margaritaville Casino or the entire resort a Margaritaville Resort -- which is possible since they closed the Margaritavilla casino and restaurant at Flamingo recently -- but they didn't include any details in their announcement and the Review-Journal article doesn't mention it at all.

I think it's becoming obvious as even that Star Flyer attraction's top has a large drink and straw poking out and the LandShark Bar & Grill logo on the left building.

Casino Royale

Casino Royale is no longer accepting reservations beyond the end of 2024, and the owners of the property received FAA approval to build a 699 ft. tower on the site, so December 31 might be the end for this time capsule on the Strip. Rumors say that the owners were in talks to brand the new hotel as a Ritz-Carlton, but those negotiations fell apart, so it's likely another luxury hotel brand will be used for the new property.

Right next door, it was also rumored earlier this year that the Venetian will finally build a third hotel tower, possibly branded as Tao Hotel Las Vegas - a tower crane has been sitting idle on the site (left side of the photo above) for many years after the previous plan to build a St. Regis hotel on that site fell through.

Without Casino Royale around maybe Bond movies will actually look like Bond movies rather than Bourne movies

Well, there goes my Strip White Castle...

Surely one of the many new food halls on the Strip can make room for the $1.99 $3.49 Foot Long Hot Dog spot and a relocated White Castle!

This is a video from a Vegas travel channel I follow; interesting to see a frequent visitor/content creator's perspective on whether having F1 on the Las Vegas Strip is a good idea. Obviously a lot of the locals and casino employees hate it due to the months of construction and detours leading up to and following the event. But when even the frequent visitors are saying it's not worth the downsides, maybe it isn't a good idea.
