Do you know that guy with the bike or is it just a random person posing and smiling for you? I bet that happens a lot when people take streetscape pics in LA.  ;D

Nope, didn't know him.

Awesome pictures!

Really nice tour! Hard to pick a favorite set, but I loved the desert shots and rainy and green San Diego. I really need to get up to Sacramento sometime, as I think I would enjoy it. The city gets hated on a lot in LA (probably SF too, but idk), but so does San Diego, and I like it there. Thank you for sharing these photos.

what a trip that was --- san diego just keeps on a-boomin doesn't it?

and while historic sacramento is nice, the newer office towers look like they would fit right in around the I-270 outer loop in columbus lol.

^ Are there any cool neighborhoods in Sacramento? I know they miss out a bit by not having a major university, since Davis is a bit outside the city, but there must be some interesting neighborhoods and things to do, right? People in LA say it's boring and bland, but I've always attributed that to coastal bias and general ignorance.

Sacramento has some solid neighborhoods adjacent to downtown such as Midtown and various Victorian neighborhoods with solid commercial districts and beautiful residential architecture.  It's a VERY Midwestern-looking city (river town and all) and has decent transit.  You will enjoy it.

Sorry to bump an old thread. I'll be moving to Sacramento soon for work and don't know much about it. You guys wouldn't happen to have any recommendations for resources to learn more about its neighborhoods and whatnot? It's probably too much to ask for a forum that's of similar quality to UrbanOhio... Sorry if I'm highjacking the thread, I'll be happy to delete and start a new one if that's preferred.

No no, it's a great question.  Skyscraperpage's Forum I believe has a Sacramento section you may ask your questions towards.  Otherwise, I'd just suggest Midtown as a perfect area to start looking.

although I've never been to Sacramento and didn't see this movie, the critically acclaimed film "Lady Bird" takes place there. You might want to see it to get some perspective.

Sacramento is a little sleepy, but it has a growing number of boutiques and coffee shops and an improving dining scene.  It’s easy to get around and there is lots of nature. As has been mentioned, it is kind of Midwestern in its feel. I like it. A buddy of mine from here in LA moved there 5 years ago and loves it. It’s kind of in the middle of nowhere but yet still strangely close to San Francisco on the West and the mountains to the East if you want to go skiing or hiking.

Thanks guys!
