Posted February 19, 20187 yr Hey all, I got engaged on Friday, and my fiance and I are looking at a wedding date in late February of next year. Before you say anything, I know - hard to believe anyone would want to spend the rest of their lives with me - I assure you, I was equally surprised when she answered in the affirmative. As such, as I can always count on you guys, I figured I would reach out about honeymoon ideas. Here are the criterion for our destination: 1. Caribbean - we don't really want to spend too much time travelling to get there. A 2.5 hour flight to Miami and then another 2-2.5 hours is more than enough time on a plane for me. 2. I'd like it to be all inclusive, so I know what I'm spending beforehand - but I'm certainly open to traditional payment options as well. 3. We're definitely outdoorsy, so an island with snorkeling, hiking, mountain biking, etc is ideal. 4. My fiance is staunchly against St. Lucia - I've only been engaged for 3 days but I've already learned not to ask questions - so x that off of the list. 5. We would prefer to be around adults and not on a MASSIVE resort if possible. Thanks guys, any and all recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!!
February 19, 20187 yr We were a fan of the Guanacaste region in COsta Rica. That is a good time to go because it is not the rainy season. There are a number of large resorts there and a lot of opportunities to do outdoor excursions off site. There are a lot of zip line, hiking, biking tours there as well as beach activities. When we went, there happened to be a large Ohio contingent there on a junket so it was neat connecting with a lot of Ohio folks.

February 19, 20187 yr My wife and I went to Nicaragua a few years back. We took a leap of faith, because it doesnt get the run that Costa Rica and Mexico get in Central America....it was awesome. The people there are really happy and friendly, despite it being a poor nation. Its the SAFEST country in Central America statistically...safer than CR, safer than Belize. Its the only country in that part of the world i have ever been to where cops arent driving around with weapons drawn on top of their vehicles. The coasts are really remarkable...There are volcanoes, lakes, ocean coast and its REALLY affordable. We stayed at this really exceptional resort on the pacific coast: http://aquanicaragua.com/ You fly into either Managua or Liberia (CR)...and its about 1.5-2 hour drive from the airport (the resort will pick you up). Nicaraguans have been putting alot of resources into tourism. Grenada is a really slick city right on the north coast of Lake Nicaragua....coffee roasting factories, chocolate factories, amazing restaurants. I think Grenada will be a destination that sees a lot of increased popularity in the near future. Anyway, since you asked...
February 19, 20187 yr Panama? Lots of all inclusive resorts but most of the best areas are small towns far from the city, like San Blas and Bocas Del Toro.

I had seen some resorts on the Corn Islands in the Caribbean as well. Thanks for the insight
February 19, 20187 yr Congrats YABO713[/member] . are you opposed to waiting until summer for a honeymoon and are you intent on Carribean/ Latin America? I think Acadia National Park in Maine is beautiful and has a lot of outdoor activity. I know this is an outside the box suggestion but just putting it out there.

We are both avid hikers so I will keep that in my pocket. I think - and I'd tend to agree - there will be an appeal from my fiance for a vacation to the Caribbean in February. We were planning to fly into Burlington, VT and make a 4-5 day car trip through New England during the foliage in 2019... I think that just got added to the list.

February 21, 20187 yr well congrats. if you want a nice place, but still keep the price down, last time we went to the carribean we stayed at sunshine suites in grand cayman. its traditional and across the street from seven mile beach so its cheaper. bonus is, and not saying i did this, no no no, but if you want to be an adventerous americano couple you could easily go into town and arrange a quick trip to cuba for a few days. old habana es muy romantico.
