Prospect Hill is visible on the west bank of the Great Miami, north of Rossville and behind Champion Paper. The neighborhood was developed around 1893 by Peter Thompson, founded of Champion which opened in 1894. North C and D streets hold several large homes, but the rest are primarily housing stock for factory workers.

From Jim Blount:

"Hamilton has plenty of room for factories, but it has only one desirable location for homes and that is Prospect Hill, boasted a Thomson newspaper ad in May 1893. "The completion of the Black Street Bridge will make this property doubly accessible."

Behind the "subdivision" of Prospect Hill sits Grandview, also a development begun in 1890's. As the photos move into newer and plainer homes, assume you've moved to Grandview.

A few photos come from Rossville/Mainstreet, but generally I think the locals group them with Prospect Hill.

Park Avenue runs parallel on the north side of Main Street carrying traffic west bound from the High-Main bridge.  Rossville, Prospect Hill, and newer developent makes this street hard to designate and quite odd.

Excellent work!  Thank you for continuing to bring the wonderful world of Hamilton to us.

I see you got camera happy again.

I never realized Hamilton had such a diverse, well-maintained housing stock.  Its neighbor to the North should take note.

I love that quirky old house at Park and Eaton.  I had a good friend who rented that downstairs apartment and it was really nice inside - until she was done with it :(

It would certainly be a fun challenge to bring that one back to a single family home.

Great shots.

While this thread hasn't had any activity in more than three years, I thought I'd pass along the fact that Prospect Hill has its own website!  See http://historic-prospect-hill.org/ and knock yourself out!
