May 7, 20187 yr Author Is the prevalence of angled photos a new style thing that people are doing? When i started shooting photos ( with a cell phone) it happened by accident, but I liked how it looked. Now that I have a DSLR camera I take photos in angles and in normal. Some times I shoot pics angled shots just to fit everything in the shot because I don't have a wide angle lens. Just to go to show there is nothing new under the sun , the tilted or angled shot called the Dutch angle originated during World War I as a part of the German Expressionist movement. The Dutch Angle ( corruption of Deutsch Angle) is a cinematic technique used in cinematography often used to portray psychological uneasiness or tension in the subject being filmed. The 1949 film The Third Man makes extensive use of Dutch angle shots, to emphasize the main character's alienation in a foreign environment.
