Saw this on Reddit (it happened in Columbus’ Hilltop neighborhood) and had to share here

 

Mods, I did a search for dumb crimes and stupid crimes but nothing came up, so... I made this thread. It might be best combined into a different spot, idk, and if it should be somewhere else, I apologize.

 

But this is so stupid it almost has to be staged!

Definitely watch the video in the article with the sound on... apparently the home owners were loudly listening to “Whip It” (the song from the Swiffer commercials) while two burglars stole their tiny TV from their cluttered house. Supposedly this is footage from their surveillance camera, but I am skeptical tho... looks like acting to me. One burglar even did the shhh motion to the other burglar!

The apartment may be cluttered by 2010s urbanite standards but is normal by everyone else standards. A lot of people still have "stuff".

I definitely know what Whip It is.  I don't know what "the Swiffer commercials" are.

True. Lots of people still have "stuff", I'm guilty too (to a degree... I'd like to live with less).

The question is why buy a bunch of stuff just to put it in piles and never touch it again?

In an economy where even cars are increasingly being rented/shared, the idea of purchasing many physical products is asinine.

But that's wayyyy outside of the scope of this thread, which is supposed to be a fun, light-hearted thread examining how dumb people can be, as judgmental of a purpose as that is.

As a 26-yo it's the only way I identify this song lol.

 

I also associate it with laundromats, and cleaning in general.
