There was a vacant brick building here with a billboard on top for many years on the south side of Marshall. Then the credit union disappeared along with the remnants of a gas station. If the developer is rich enough - or simply donates to Cranley - they can get the city to vacate the needless prong of the 5-way intersection.

From the photos in the listing, it looks like it's being marketed for either an auto-oriented development or an urban development. It is a bit far from the nearest I-75 exits - or, rather, difficult to get to from the exits (Hopple has the confusing and time consuming White Castle jughandle down to Central and Harrison only has access to the west), so hopefully that discourages a fast food/gas station type development.

They could take the swing out of Central Parkway that followed the route of the canal and open up a larger contiguous piece of land. Have Central Parkway slope downward a bit to meet Marshall just east of the I-75 overpass. It's interesting that the rapid transit planners chose to deviate in this section from the canal. The stated purpose was to enable trains to travel at their top planned speed of 45mph - if you attempt to take the curve on Central Parkway at 45mph you will squeal your tires. But since they built a station at Marshall, the trains would have to slow down anyway - the local trains, at least. There were definite plans for the interurbans to run express, so that's why the alignment had to be straight. Further south, the Brighton Station was positioned so as to force trains to slow down while negotiating the canal's S-curve in that area. So while express trains would have been able to speed through Marshall, they would have had to slow down in Brighton.

September 25, 20195 yr This West End listing comes "with view of Central Pkwy." I'll let you be the judge if that view is worth it: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/427-Whiteman-St-Cincinnati-OH-45214/34236640_zpid/?

November 8, 20195 yr Here we have an otherwise on-trend modern house, but with a 2-floor freestanding screened-in porch. It looks like an aviary, but for visiting relatives: https://www.sibcycline.com/Listing/CIN/1643741/2902-Alpine-Ter-Mt-Lookout-OH-45208
November 8, 20195 yr While poking around the county auditors site looking for info on 918 York in the West End, this interesting parcel came up. Its like 6" wide and runs the length of the property. Could this be some kind of easement ? What do others think about this? It has a completely different Parcel ID than the other 918 York. https://wedge.hcauditor.org/view/re/1840003016200/2018/aerial_imagery Property Description YORK ST 0.46 X 150 FT PT LOT While the other 918 York street is a complete mess. I walked a client through it last week. Its a beautiful disaster. It was listed in Aug for $120,000 !! Currently @ $98k. It would take someone 2 years and a quarter million dollars to get it nice again. https://www.sibcycline.com/Listing/1/1636778/918-York-St-Cincinnati-OH-45214/
November 14, 20195 yr Not necessarily "weird" - but possibly the nicest house I've ever seen for < $600,000: https://www.coldwellbankerhomes.com/oh/cincinnati/3886-reading-rd/pid_33673667/
November 14, 20195 yr ^ Yeah, it's just in an unfortunate spot. It would be worth double that if it ere a block east or west, rather than on Reading Road. It would be worth 4 or 5 times that if it were a mile away in Hyde Park.
November 14, 20195 yr This looks like the Cincinnati branch campus of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Except that Cincinnati already has two schools named Xavier, so that would just be gilding the lily a bit.

HOWEVER, there are some glaring issues. The heating/cooling system would need to be replaced The windows would need to be replaced The kitchen would need to be gutted There are only TWO full baths for a SEVEN bedroom home. Both would need to be gutted. and most likely 2 of the 3 partial bathrooms would need to be gutted and expanded. The electrical panel will most likely need to upgraded for new appliances The home will most likely need to be upgraded for home network, security and solar panel The exterior is gorgeous but needs to be cleaned. Welcoming guest as you descend the stairs would be everything!

November 26, 20195 yr At least they left you some of the leftover paint cans, as shown (for some reason) in picture 30, so you can do some light touchup.
December 31, 20195 yr A chop shop garage on Cincinnati's west side has been listed for 5-6 months...finally I went over to see the thing today. As it came into view I was like...um...what happened to half of it? These idiots still have it listed for $150k even though half of it disappeared sometime this fall. The retaining wall which half of the building rested on looks like the culprit. It doesn't look saveable and in my estimation the property is worth less than $0 at this point. Simply removing the retaining wall and shoring up the remainder of the structure might cost $40,000.
