John Stossel Confronts Politicians About Corruption Allegations

Developer claims politicians blocked their project to favor a crony who helps the politicians.

An apartment developer paid millions for prime real estate in Edgewater, New Jersey, with a beautiful view of Manhattan. Nearly 2,000 apartments would be built. The developer also offered to build public parks, parking, a ferry terminal, and a pier, all at no cost to taxpayers.

But Edgewater's mayor, Michael McPartland, and city council said: No, you may not build!

That's not that unusual. Local officials often keep new developments out.

But in this case, they also voted to seize the developer's land using eminent domain. John Stossel asks: Why would they do that?

Stossel is awful. If he can't understand my issue (transportation and who funds different modes) yet still feels compelled to opine on it, chances are he doesn't understand this and other issues, too.

I don't think he misunderstands transit. I think maybe he's just parroting his sponsors worldviews.

Corruption looks like incompetence from the outside.

I’m beginning to wonder if Burke Lakefront Airport is a simulation. It has the pretense of an airport with a trickle of planes taking off and landing but it is not a real airport. What if someone engineered an “airport” with gaps in security that could be exploited to create hidden revenue streams that cannot be publicly defended.

Is incompetence a better explanation? I don’t see a thread for incompetence.

^ Speaking of which, I'm curious who's paying you to post here.

Which is apparently why Brook Park Mayor Tom Coyne wanted to hang on to the IX Jet Center (and take over the mob-run strip joints on the north side of Brookpark Road). His business buddy with the same real first name was allegedly moving some "merchandise" through there.

There is ALWAYS a revenue stream to explain blight.

This isn’t an argument. ^^

Can you give one reason Burke Lakefront Airport should stay open?

Why are we pretending Burke is a needed airport?

Why is City Hall’s position always:  no comment, call my assistant, who are you with?, who is paying you?

Its weird.

Perhaps not, but it would explain why you keep presenting opinion as fact.

I noticed you didn't answer the question.

Please take your nonsense to the Burke thread as you've polluted enough threads on this site.  On second thought, don't.
