Idk still seems pretty applicable still to be honest. The idea that downtown is a ghost town after 5p is still strong, including amongst 20 year olds.

Sad but true - that is why we need to keep the stadium downtown.  Days when there are events at several venues we get a taste of how it was up until the late 80-early 90s.  The valet stations do seem to add a lot of life to 9th street so more of these like Project Scarlett and the W at Erieview will help...but W's entrance/valet may be tucked out of sight around the side or back vs fronting 9th.

Also learned from the news story that the Galleria is Phase 2 - hope it is funded already.

The Galleria will be the project's second phase – at an estimated cost of $20 million.

Conceptual plans call for tearing out the escalators and adding new ways to get into and around the two-level building. Renderings show dining and entertainment in a space reconfigured so that people can gather to watch live sports on big screens.

“You can have people under a glass dome and – in winter, like today – watching sports games, eating, drinking, celebrating the game together, watching the game live instead of being at the stadium,” Kassouf said during a recent tour of the space.

But right now, the tower is the priority – the springboard for everything else.

Well to be fair the part of downtown around Erieview is a ghost town. Everything between there and I-90 needs some serious redevelopment.

Absolutely -- make Erieview the gathering place for all the residences built in a ten-minute walk around it!  (and could we get a downtown-loop rail station within that radius?!?)

I think something like an Urban Air mixed with a Fremont street environment; arcades, zip lines, sports bars, restaurants etc would be a cool vibe.

What the alleged plan is for the Galleria is what I wanted Tower City to have, an entertainment venue focus (Dave and Busters etc.) with the remaining stores being on top. If they can make this an all around entertainment venue, do something with the old Winking Lizard space and add some public use in between to tie it together. Now a dead corner is buzzing, especially with The Bell coming on-line.

I'm in agreement with you, no sense in painting this neck of the woods with rose colored glasses. Got out of the Charge game a few weeks ago and wanted to grab food/drinks around there. It was a Friday night, pretty much the only thing open on E9 around Lakeside/St. Clair was Winking Lizard (which closed at 10). Hopefully the development plans come true because from St. Clair to Gateway-ish there's not much of anything going on. Yes, it's probably 1000x better than 20 years ago, but there's still a lot of work to be done.

I guess it depends on where you are downtown at any particular time. My guess is that at the exact same time you stepped out of the Chargers game on that Friday night, if a person was stepping out of a building on LaSalle Street near the Board of trade in Chicago he also would be having a tough time finding a place to grab a bite to eat

Absolutely, I agree with that sentiment. The experience can vary significantly depending on where you are downtown and the time of day. Major cities everywhere have pockets of activity that ebb and flow with events, business hours, and local habits.

Absolutely, but at the same time people are coming after the original poster like he's lying or something. It's pretty dead over that way most times of the day, it's just what it is (for right now). Just because people don't agree with 99% of ADFWS' posts doesn't mean one isn't right.

My take is that posters usually don’t agree with him because he’s a borderline troll. I guess they don’t like feeding him.
