Posted August 4, 20186 yr Making a trip down to Cincinnati late tomorrow afternoon, staying overnight and hanging out for a good portion of Sunday. Any must suggestions? I haven't been down there for nearly a decade now so im sure there is a bunch of new places to check out. We are lodging in CBD but will no doubt take the streetcar up to OTR (probably Sunday) We have nothing planned currently other than just strolling around, eating and drinking. Also, I drink a lot of coffe (espresso) so what are the shops you guys/gals in the know like? Thanks in advance.
August 4, 20186 yr Collective espresso for coffee. They are at Woodward and Main. Go to Rhinegeist, Findlay market, CAC is free now, Smale Riverfront Park, Covington Pike and Main area, Broadway and 12th in Pendleton. For fine dining Sotto is a great. 21c hotel. Maybe I’ll just give a tour. Ha. “All truly great thoughts are conceived while walking.” -Friedrich Nietzsche
August 4, 20186 yr Do yourself and go to a fc Cincinnati game. They play Nashville tomorrow. They are both mls expansion teams, and it’s expected to be a huge crowd. Even if you are not a big fan of soccer, I highly recommend it since it’s an atmosphere and experience like any other. Tickets should still be available and they are only 15$ Plus go to otr after, it will be packed after the game.
August 4, 20186 yr Author Much appreciated! Collective, Rhinegeist, Findlay market and Smale riverfront are now on the itinerary. For now we will fill in-between those on whim and other suggestions. Also going to stop at the new Platform brewery to support Justin. Cincinnati FC, would love to go, thanks for the heads up. Ill have to clear that with the gf :)
August 4, 20186 yr 1215 Coffee and Wine bar on Vine and Coffee Emporium on Central Parkway and Walnut are also good places to grab coffee. Urbana Cafe in Pendleton would be another good spot.

Only thing is general admission has been sold out for the game since Monday, unless you can find someone to sell you there tickets...

August 6, 20186 yr Too late now, but for coffee I like Iris Book Cafe on Main in OTR. They have a great patio. Maybe not the best when it's hot and muggy.

August 9, 20186 yr Author We had a great time btw! It's been a crazy week but I plan on writing something thoughtful when I have some free time. Too late now, but for coffee I like Iris Book Cafe on Main in OTR. They have a great patio. Maybe not the best when it's hot and muggy. I saw this one and would have stopped but the last thing we had stopped for was coffee and you can only convince a non coffee drinking travel partner to stop for more coffee so many times. New Platform brewery in OTR isn't open yet unfortunately. Taft's Ale House is another great brewery along the streetcar route though, at 15th & Race. I saw this... guess I'll will just have to come back soon. Also I didn't realize Aladdin's was right next door. Can we nickname this part of OTR "Little Cleveland" ;)

August 9, 20186 yr If you stopped at Collective, you had our city's best coffee offering. Iris has a cool patio but their coffee, food, and customer service are all lacking IMO.

Main St, is more regional chains nowadays than the rest of OTR>
August 9, 20186 yr But then you have multiple restaurants on Vine that originated here and have become chains in other midwest cities.
August 10, 20186 yr But then you have multiple restaurants on Vine that originated here and have become chains in other midwest cities. Which speaks volumes about how much of a success story OTR has been...OTR is creating chains, but also attracting chains, which is a perfect recipe for the neighborhooods long term vitality.
