It has been 30 years since we have had any change in the number at all so this is pretty big. Maybe with the Intel thing we can get a few more and maybe break 20? If only we can get Harmony Tower!-that would help bridge the gap between the Statehouse cluster and the Nationwide cluster of buildings. I really think the Intel stuff can only make developers know that the boom for Central Ohio will continue and make them less risk-averse to going tall(20 floors or more). At 382' this buildings will be only 26 feet shorter than 3 Nationwide. It will really have a big presence on the skyline. Now if they would just put a 100 meter plus tower on Goodale next to the parking garage! And also on High across from the courthouse where the Main bar was torn down for the 7 space parking lot. I’m hoping we can get some good height along Third St as well—the lot directly behind the Statehouse, COTA’s redev of the Greyhound site, and the massive parking lot right next to the Greyhound site. Although, unless it gets split up into smaller parcels, I have a feeling that last one will end up with low to mid-rise development, just because of how much space is available there. Also, has anyone heard if the demo of those single-story buildings on Vine has been approved? Supposedly they’re coming down to make room for temporary North Market parking. As long as something better ends up getting built there later on, I’m okay with that plan. There’s really so much potential for development right next to those buildings as well. Right now, it’s just a bunch of gravel lots.

May 26, 20223 yr Love the signage. The interior design of the building looks great too! I noticed a construction trailer parked on the North Market parking lot when I was there last week, but I don’t know if it has to do with the tower.
May 26, 20223 yr Author I got so excited when I brought up this site and saw the recent posts on the side and it was all about this tower and I knew something big was up! Let's Go!!!!!!! I like the name of this now and also that the signage and whatever else is sticking up at the top will be architectural and add to the building's height. I wonder if that is why it got that 30 foot bump in height? Great News!!!
May 26, 20223 yr With the Hilton 2.0 Tower topped out and the exterior features almost wrapped up, the drive in from the West definitely has expanded the skyline to the North. This tower will only continue that!! Do we know the official height? I believe it will technically be taller than H2.0 and will draw the skyline even further!

May 26, 20223 yr Author Good Lord, they have an article on Columbus Underground* and it shows a pic of an outdoor seating area just below the sign on the top of the building facing downtown. May 26, 20223 yr Seems like the developers are really ready to get rolling this time. North Market's Merchant Building now available for office leasing with broker selected “NAI Ohio Equities has been selected to oversee leasing for the 65,000 square feet of office in the Merchant Building. The Merchant Building will offer office space with a refined, industrial design and panoramic views of downtown Columbus, according to a press release from NAI. Offices will take up two floors in the building. Both floors of office users will have access to communal spaces and on-site, structured parking. There will be two terraces on the seventh floor. “As we continue to see demand increase and a flight to quality, we anticipate this space will be highly sought after,” Matt Gregory, senior vice president of office brokerage at NAI Ohio Equities, said in the release.“ https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2022/05/26/north-market-merchant-building-leasing.html Rockbridge CEO: North Market's Merchant Building will be '700,000-square-foot vertical neighborhood' “The relationship between the North Market and the Merchant Building will be a symbiotic one, Merkel said, in which both entities will be able to feed off of the success of the other. The nearly $292 million project will also add about 65,000 square feet of new, Class A office space to the Arena District and Short North area. Public spaces will include the Trade Room and Bar, a courtyard, curated retail spaces, a cafe, a restaurant and a barber shop. Merkel said there will be a social club, dubbed the Merchant Club, that will have wellness space, restaurant space, event and programming space and coworking space. The Merchant Club is modeled off the Soho House chain of social clubs. The Merchant Club will be a membership-based club for those interested in wellness, as well as the arts and culture and the programming that would be offered at the club.” https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2022/05/26/jim-merkel-north-market-merchant-building.html

May 31, 20223 yr I would be fine if they just screen it to match the Hilton garage across the street. That is the one thing I found odd about the tower renderings. Everything looks great until you get to the naked garage.

Its nothing fancy but I do like it when garages are built with simple windows on a facade that resembles a building. The North Bank Park Condos have this facing Neil and its a great way to disguise a garage without it needing to be art or video boards.
