Well this is to the north of the Hyatt so we'd have to go through some pole reversals to get the sun casting shadows in that direction 😜

There I go trying to be a smarta** and end up sounding like a dumb one instead 🤣🤣🤣

I was downtown a bit this weekend for a show and a wedding, and snapped these pics from the Goodale Station terrace at the Canopy.  I always find this angle of the Hyatt interesting because it looks so skinny from this viewpoint haha  Also loving all the cranes in the distance at Ohio State

Was downtown last night and was able to get right up to the site for some construction updates.  Also great to see the GSWS in town again!!  Largest event since the start of the pandemic.  Over 240 teams are participating, the most of any GSWS.  The hotels and restaurants have been quiet busy all week in the area!!!

Looks like we are closing in on another crane jump!

I agree, I feel like the progress to the next floor has really slowed/stalled because they are waiting for the bump.  I feel like they are really focusing on the outside cladding.  I really also liked seeing all the white iron/beams giving shape to all the huge angular glass that will be on the bottom 4-5 floors!!!

You are probably right. The extremely and humid weather last week and then the recent rain probably slowed progress as well. It looks like the next couple weeks will be pretty mild though so hopefully that means they'll be full steam ahead. Great progress pics though. Keep them coming!

The quantity of rain and threats of rain this month has really hampered progress on the concrete pours. But we'll see the final 100' crane jump in just a couple weeks.

The first curtainwall panels were just set, along with the start of metal panels on the east face of the tower (above the ballrooms).

I came here to post the below pic and say that it looks like we have about 100' to go before being topped out. Sounds like I was right! Thanks for your construction insight!

The building itself is much bigger than I even expected… it has a great presence from 670, Summit, etc

I had seen that same picture on Twitter today. I was thinking to myself earlier if I had any photoshop skills, I would show what that looks like with a finished Hilton and the North market Tower. It’s going to be amazing how much wider the skyline will be with these two added towers. We just need to fill that gap between the Vern Riffe tower and the Franklin County Government Center.

I don't know if we have a confirmed height for the North Market Tower, but here's my mockup based on some rough estimates:

Edit to say I second the need for the Millennial

Simply amazing! I think your estimates are right on. Thank you so much for this. This is just the beginning, I think by the end of the 2020s we won’t recognize downtown anymore if we’re lucky. I hope we’re the next Nashville or Austin.

Yeah it’s a thicc boy

The hotel is making it's presence known - it's going to help fill in the skyline nicely.

Dump Millennial and get something similar(but better) on the Main and High lot(RIP The Main Bar)or the lot across from Bicentennial Park. I really never like the design of that thing in any iteration.

She’s growin’ up 🥲

Crews are unloading tower crane segments on High St this morning. Expect the tower crane to grow pretty soon.

How tall is each section? 20 feet?

Yes. 20'

Thanks! So it looks like we'll get a 100' jump, meaning the tower will grow by about 100' still.

The crane is jumping and they've adjusted the camera so we can continue to see the building as it grows.

Looking good. And it still has 100’ to go!

Looks like there are still 2 sections to go - one is hanging on the crane and another is staged on High St.

One more section to go now. The tower will probably rise to just under where the boom currently is in this picture.

Oh no, the shadow it created on the old Hilton. How did this get approved??

I believe the crane has reached its final height.

More people are going to be able to appreciate the unique roof of the convention center. Every other convention center is just a flat rectangle.

It’s pretty tall.

How tall will the building get in relation to the crane?

The tower crane generally ends up being about 20-30' taller than the actual building. I'd say, conservatively, it will probably climb to the bottom of the second crane section from the top.

Here’s a different perspective

Pretty awesome this thing is starting to become visible from just about any direction. Just noticed how prominent it is driving on 315 yesterday.

Beautiful day to build a building.

It's beautiful, truly exciting to see a tower happening downtown again. Hopefully this is just the start.

I said it in a different thread the other day, but I think Columbus will see a height boom in the 2020s equivalent, or hopefully at least somewhat close to, the height boom Nashville, TN and Austin, TX saw in the 2010s. Those two cities shot up, I highly recommend checking out their "tallest building" Wikipedia pages to see what I'm talking about. The amount of height those cities gained in a short time is insane and I'm hopeful we are next!

Try Austin in 2005.  It's even more nuts the change.

"You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers

Austin looks like Miami Beach mixed with Communist housing.

This building is really changing the skyline and feel of the city between Downtown and the Short North. Can’t wait to see it continue to grow and progress!

I may live in CLE now, but spent several years in Columbus and it’s fun seeing all the new change and development that’s going on - this tower especially.

Here's a couple recent skyline shots which show the impact the tower is already having.

On a side note, I was at the Crew game on Saturday and the tower looks massive from the upper east side concourse area. Not just tall, but wide. It's very impressive. I can't even imagine how cool it will be once we add Market Tower to the mix.
