November 8, 20213 yr Glad that place is finally filled. It's not a great location, because it's basically hidden. Lee's Seafood Boil is good but definitely a downgrade from Crop Kitchen. Almost anything else would have been too though.
November 14, 20213 yr west african food downtown --- niiice! Primo Brings West African Food to the Heart of Downtown Cleveland Posted By Douglas Trattner on Thu, Oct 28, 2021 at 2:30 pm For the past year, the former 2nd and High space has been undergoing a pretty extensive makeover. Two weeks ago, the doors opened to the public for the first time in approximately two years when Primo African Quisine (2123 E. 2nd St., 216-400-6207) debuted. The restaurant is a showcase for West African foods, making it a rarity in Northeast Ohio. more: https://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2021/10/28/primo-brings-west-african-food-to-the-heart-of-downtown-cleveland

("DC" could be be Derek Clayton... Symon's long time corporate chef...) This could be a Petkovic venture on his own, like Flannery's downtown, but it also could be "Michael Symon Steak" or similar, as was originally on an early leasing plan for Pinecrest. If so, a high profile opening to complement his soon to open Mabel's BBQ 100 yards away at Eton. Either way, a high profile restaurateur involved.

I don't know if you remember the Hungarian places in the Upper East Side/Yorkville area, where a lot of Hungarians settled after the revolution in 1956. There was a great bakery called Rigo in the 70's and a couple of restaurants around 86th St. As far as I know they're all gone. Maybe there just aren't enough non-Hungarian customers to sustain these businesses despite the quality of the food. http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/

November 23, 20213 yr It was suggested at the City Council Planning and Development committee meeting today that Balaton leaving Shaker Square is not a 100% certainty. Is was also suggested that part of the problem with a potential lease extension is that the receiver is not being pro active to get it done (return calls and the like) but is more focused on the more mundane aspects of his duties.
