FWIW - I was in the Timmy’s by the Ohio Statehouse in C’bus the other week. The woman who ran that store told me the plans for Cleveland got hit by Covid, but it’s still their intention to enter the market.

FYI, there are Tim Hortons in NE Ohio.  Akron, Ashland, Mansfield, and East Liverpool have them.

The good people of Cleveland rose up and said we don't need sub-par Canadian coffee in our city! I'd take a local coffeehouse or even any chain with decent coffee over tim hortons.

so the new ones just bought the name rights? Or maybe they don't have to buy them as it was no longer a functioning business for a certain number of years?

Indian-fusion restaurant Amba sets opening date in Ohio City after delays

After a several-month delay, Chef Douglas Katz is looking to open his new Indian-fusion restaurant Amba on May 24 in Cleveland's Ohio City neighborhood.

The restaurant was previously set to open last fall. The delay comes as a number of restaurants are experiencing delays due to hiring issues related to wages and construction challenges.

The 4,800-square-foot building at 1430 W. 28th St., decked in a tiger mural, will be Katz's first brick-and-mortar restaurant since Fire Food and Drink closed in 2020, shortly after the pandemic hit. Prior to renting the building, Amba offered delivery at 1975 Lee Road in Cleveland Heights.

Harbour Bay Real Estate will be opening new restaurants this summer as the Illinois-based company furthers its investment in the city with the launch of Harbour Bay Hospitality, the restaurant and entertainment wing of the company.

Well that's some very good news on another rainy day here in NEO. Look's like the only way to play golf here is indoors.

But seriously, that is some massive space they are taking up and it's especially great to see a storefront filled in on Euclid.

tim hortons is terrible. or was. its weird how they gave changed ownership a few times, shrunk and then expanded again. maybe they are better now? i dk.

that reminds me of a similar chain you dont hear much about anymore, peets. they were a starbucks rival for awhile, at least out west. they are still around, but seem to have mostly shrunk and faded away. very good coffee though, unlike starbucks.

Restaurant planned near Sherwin-Williams R&D Center

A new restaurant and event center are being being planned near the construction site of Sherwin-Williams' new R&D Center in Brecksville, Ohio.

"Not all restaurants have the ability to have a space for new gathering rooms," said Laura Redinger, Brecksville City Council president. "This will provide businesses the opportunity to have larger type of events that are typically held at party centers."

But the fate of the restaurant will ultimately lie in the hands of Brecksville voters this fall.

Gonna be interesting to see how all the other development around Valor Acres plays out. Right now, it’s looking like the SHW R&D and it’s staff is gonna have to do all the heavy lifting. CrossCountry is taking all its staff downtown and Lubrizol Advance Materials is now largely WFH with, according to people I know there, about 20% of the staff on-site everyday compared to pre-Covid.

I used to get it with my parents as a kid - so I sworeee to my wife last year "I know a place" when we were looking for good Mexican.

We left after we ordered when a cockroach walked across the table next to us

I ate there once a long time ago.  It was nothing to write home about.

They used to be great. I also see El Jalapeños going downhill. Last time I was there, I got food poisoning. I like Cozumel these days. Plus they have an outdoor patio.

Interior demolition began last week in the former Fleming's space at Eton Chagrin Boulevard.  Still no word on the name of the new steakhouse.

Edited by SgtBarone

I've been watching the same daily demo activity as I pass Eton on my commute each recent morning. A steakhouse was announced for this space, via social media and door signage, last Fall...

interestingly, Michael Symon's restaurant partner, Doug Petkovic, was the one who filed for the business name "DC Steak Eton" last August (DC = Derek Clayton, Symon's corporate chef?) - so my bet is on a Michael Symon restaurant - but TBD.

(A Symon Steakhouse was on the original leasing plan for nearby Pinecrest...)

Covid killed Fleming's (originally-named... but later raised in price) fantastic "5 for $6 til 7" happy hour.

No more happy hour at Fleming's - though a limited bar- only menu of burgers, sandwiches. The Akron/Fairlawn location (we go about once a month to the bar) - seems to thrive, though. Less competition.

Whoops, looks like I misremembered the special.

I see Slyman’s tavern in Orange Village is now officially closed which I assume will make away for the demolition for RH Gallery, The one newspaper article said they weren’t sure where they were relocating but I thought they were Relocating to the former Oak and embers space at Pinecrest??
