I see Slyman’s tavern in Orange Village is now officially closed which I assume will make away for the demolition for RH Gallery, The one newspaper article said they weren’t sure where they were relocating but I thought they were Relocating to the former Oak and embers space at Pinecrest??

Apparently the owner has confirmed that the previously reported move to Pinecrest is definitely not happening.

I've been watching the same daily demo activity as I pass Eton on my commute each recent morning. A steakhouse was announced for this space, via social media and door signage, last Fall...

interestingly, Michael Symon's restaurant partner, Doug Petkovic, was the one who filed for the business name "DC Steak Eton" last August (DC = Derek Clayton, Symon's corporate chef?) - so my bet is on a Michael Symon restaurant - but TBD.

(A Symon Steakhouse was on the original leasing plan for nearby Pinecrest...)

This is confirmed NOT to be a Michael Symon restaurant - but actually from his business partner in Mabel's, etc...  Doug Petkovic. Interesting...

City Slice Pizzeria Brings Gigantic New York-Style Slices to Cleveland’s West Side

A balance of crust, sauce and cheese creates the perfect slice

By Douglas Trattner on Wed, Jul 13, 2022 at 6:52 am

City Slice Pizzeria might be the closest thing Cleveland has to a neighborhood slice shop in Brooklyn, Staten Island or any of the five boroughs for that matter. This sliver of a storefront is loud, bustling and filled with the unmistakable sights and sounds of an old-world pizzeria. Heck, they even have a pizzamaker named Mikey.

Cleveland has no shortage of pizza places, but we’re sorely lacking in slice shops, the kind of places where a hungry shopper can be in and out in a few minutes with zero advance planning. And if we’re counting slice shops that traffic in real-deal New York-style pie, the number drops to almost zero – especially now that we’ve lost Vincenza’s.

Taco Bell planned for empty lot in Cleveland's Clark-Fulton neighborhood

Taco Bell is planning a new location along a fast-food strip in Cleveland's Clark-Fulton neighborhood.

The taco chain is presenting plans for its latest location at 3522 Clark Ave. to the Near West Design Review Committee on Wednesday. If the plans are approved, Taco Bell will be able to begin construction on its 10th location in Cleveland.

The empty lot has been owned by E&J Investments Properties since 2004, according to Cuyahoga County records. That company is registered to Jorge Serrat, who also owns the Rally's building next door.

There's also an urban form overlay over this stretch, so it'll require a number of variances before it gets approval. And hopefully it doesn't.

Need to arrange a Sunday brunch for 10 in Cleveland on Sept 11th.  Is Alley Cat Oyster Bar on the river a good choice?  6 of the 10 will be out of town visitors. We would like something scenic.  Last time (3 years ago) we went to Collision Bend Brewery and everybody liked it.

Mods: if this should be in the random question thread, feel free to move it.

Alley Cat is great! And you can sit outside.  If you can't get a reservation, there are a few new places just down the boardwark---Jade an asian place and a barbeque place also.

I'm pretty certain the BBQ place (Smokey's) isn't open yet.

In my opinion, Shooters is a great choice for brunch with a great view of the East Bank. Underrated food there. Then you can take the water taxi over to the East Bank to walk around.

I think you can't beat Lucky's for brunch in terms of food quality. But of course, that's in Tremont and not downtown. And then you might be waiting quite a while.

Agave & Rye features Cleveland-centric art along with tacos and tequila

The restaurant will occupy the former Bar Louie and Piccolo Mondo spot at 1352 W. 6th St. in the city's Warehouse District.

Yavonne Sarber, the owner and founder of Agave & Rye, said the restaurant will pay homage to the location's history.

They cited staffing as the reason and that feels right.  Post pandemic their service was beyond bad.  Not rude or anything, but I had better servers as a 16 year old taking my dates to Applebees.  Not exaggerating.

I had nothing but rude from that place.  There was a manager there that was a complete a**hole.

I really enjoyed the place. What a wonderful location though. I hope it gets filled quickly.

I never went to the place because they had bad reviews on google. I know that makes me a typical millennial but a 3.8 with over a thousand reviews for a sit down restaurant is too low for me to even give a chance.

Question for you guys..

I have been doing alot of traveling over the last two years and in my adventures i have been to many similar sized cities.  I have noticed that most of these cities have wonderful eclectic Pizza by the slice places where you can grab a quick slice.  Not your traditional pep or cheese ones either.  I am talking things like mac n chz pizza, pierogi pizza, buffalo chicken, and pickle pizza.

I know Cleveland has fantastic pizza establishments but it seriously is lacking something like this.

Do you fine people think something like this would be successful in Downtown Cleveland as a quick lunch spot and a late night after bar stop?

Downtown needs late night food period.  Citizen pie closes at 10, if you're lucky.  Guys pizza has single slices and is open late, but its the only one.

Speaking of slices, walked past the Vincenza's space this morning and all of the stainless steel fixtures have been moved towards the door. I saw a few folks in there a couple weeks ago looking like they were spec'ing the place out. Curious what's in the cards for the space, honestly it's big enough to split into two separate restos.

And in the same building, it's kind of a bummer what happened to the Indies space - cool that Sushi 86/Poke were able to take over the storefront and grow, but the way they did it, it kind of killed the small food court vibe of the area.

Hi everyone,

I am trying to find a yimby/urbanist cohort and would like to test the waters with a meet up.

My buddy owns the Ohio Inn in Lakewood and was wondering if anyone would like to join me in a month or so for a few beers and urbanist banter?
