Battr to open ice cream shop in Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood

A new ice cream shop is looking to open in Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood by mid-summer.

Battr Tremont, a restaurant started by attorney Issa Elkhatib and a group of his friends, is finishing up construction on a storefront at 910 Literary Ave.

Elkhatib and company targeted Tremont because of its central location, he said.

"We wanted to conjoin the east, west and south side, and some of the other suburbs," Elkhatib said. "New things start there, and then they start to flourish."

According to their website they will be open until 3:30AM on weekends. Nice to see some late night spots considering downtown...

Edison's Pizza Kitchen to move in Tremont; Edison's Pub remodeling vacated unit for new pizza shop

Edison's Pizza Kitchen is completing a move to a new spot in Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood.

Sometime before the summer, Edison's, which is owned by Beth Nickel and Karl Nickel, is planning to complete its move from a neighboring unit of Edison's Pub to a mixed-use building at 2258 W. 10th St. called The Pelton.

The new location for Edison's Pizza Kitchen will give the restaurant its own space, featuring a patio.

Michael Symon business partner Doug Petkovic's new Eton restaurant, in the former Fleming's space, appears to be called Heritage Steak and Whiskey based on an update of the Eton website this week. It's been under construction since late Summer or early Fall...

Can someone please tell me when the restaurant at Church and State is supposed to open? I’m dying to know

A statement released by real estate developer Stark Enterprises said Petkovic will open the steakhouse in the former Fleming's space at 28869 Chagrin Blvd.

When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?

I'm excited to check this out! Glad it's finally getting an opening date! Great location for a restaurant!

Fahrenheit Public Square opening set; Rocco Whalen prepares for shift to heart of downtown

"CLEVELAND, Ohio – For restaurateur Rocco Whalen, life is about a couple of doors – one closing on Fahrenheit in the city’s Tremont neighborhood while the other is about to open in the heart of Cleveland – Public Square.

"It’s Cleveland pride that is fueling the ventures for Whalen, a guy from Mentor with a presence in Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse and FirstEnergy Stadium, whose love for his hometown never wavers.

"Fahrenheit’s target opening date is Monday, July 10."

I'm glad that space is now being occupied, especially by something high end like Fahrenheit, but it irks me that Tremont is starting to lose alot of its establishments at the same time.

A lot? Fahrenheit space going to get something new shortly.

Having Taphouse, Lolita, Parallax, and (soon) Fahrenheit all closed at the same time does kinda suck the air out of the neighborhood. I know there's plans for some or all of those spaces but still.

What? Tap house is not closing

I get that with those places closing, but like you said all are being redone and will open in future.

Taphouse has been remodeling for three years.  Anyone hear anything about their plans?

No

Oh for sure. Hopefully some new concepts, or remodeled in Taphouse's case, will usher in the next phase in Tremont restaurant scene.

Edited by Mendo

Does anyone honestly know the status of the Tremont Taphouse renovations?  They closed more than a year ago for interior renovations and then planned to do more external expansion and landscaping work last fall.  From the looks of it absolutely none of that work has started.

Probably most of you could care less but I have to post this or I won't be able to sleep tonight.  If when I die God comes to the conclusion that I have not fully repented for all of many sins, and that I should therefore go to hell, I have a funny feeling that it is going to be something similar to trying to order food from the Chipotle located on Aurora Rd. in Solon.

In a world of bad Chipotles, it has been THE WORST for years. A 3 person line quickly grows to 25 before customer 3 even begins to order. Legendarily bad.

The walk up window for slices Geracis is going to have is such a great idea for lunch crowd and events. Hopefully they are open later.

Did that bakery place that was in there close?

WHOA. They put a ton of money into that space in the Arcades. I wonder if any of it has to do with the tenant flux/CBRE in there.

Well that's not a satisfying answer.  Is it just a universal law that you have to be mid to atrocious at business to open a restaurant?  Maybe I shouldn't be so harsh, but why shut down a (by all outward appearances) successful business for a yet-to-be-solidified renovation?  Why not just keep serving until you're literally ready to break some bricks?  It seems obvious that we aren't getting the full story.

Your wish is granted. Downtown walk-up food until midnight!

When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?

looks nice -- and 100-day dry-aged tomahawk ribeye, a 60-day dry-aged “3-finger-thick” bistecca alla Fiorentina and a Chateubriand? whoa, now that's the way to do beef!

First Look: Tutto Carne, Opening Monday, May 15 in Little Italy

The ritzy Italian-themed steakhouse comes from chefs Zachary Ladner and Carl Quagliata

By Douglas Trattner on Wed, May 10, 2023

“I’m really excited about this,” says Zachary Ladner. “It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

We’re standing in the red-brick corner property in Little Italy that has been home to a handful of restaurants over the years including Salvatore’s, Tutto Giorno, Il Bacio and Nora. Come Monday, May 15, the name above the door will read Tutto Carne. The Italian-themed steakhouse is operated by Ladner and Carl Quagliata, the chef-owners behind Giovanni’s, Smokin’ Q’s BBQ, Paloma and The Village Butcher.

After changing hands last year, the property at the corner of Murray Hill and Edgehill has been completely transformed into a stylish and sophisticated 45-seat bistro. Everything but the four walls has been touched, including the bar, which has been rebuilt as an elegant seven-seat quartz-topped beauty.

that or a san antonio real estate group, i 'm not sure which.

hopefully it's truly wxz so it stays in local hands.

The Crains article state "WXZ through Redbird LLC"  and that the property tax bill goes to WXZ headquarters.

Yes. We are sure. We were sure 3 days ago when Crains reported:

“Three years after marketing efforts began during the lockdown stage of the pandemic, the famed and beloved Sokolowski's University Inn in Tremont has gone into the hands of an affiliate of the WXZ Development firm of Fairview Park.”

Cleveland's iconic Tremont eatery Sokolowski's sells for $1.5 million

I consider you amongst the best of the best around here @mrnyc but “I looked it up” couldn’t help but give me flashbacks of “My cousin in Trinidad won’t get the vaccine cuz his friend got it & became impotent” vibes 😉

Geraci’s Slice Shop — ’80s throwback — set to open in Cleveland with Tito Francona as investor

If you walk into Geraci’s Slice Shop and blink a few times, it will definitely feel like you walked into a time machine – albeit a nice-smelling one with aromas of garlic, warm bread and oven-cooking pizzas – right in the heart of the 1980s.

The eatery - set to open at 11 a.m. Friday, May 19, on Prospect Avenue – is in the old Vicenza’s Pizza & Pasta.

While Vincenza’s served a lunchtime clientele for years, Geraci’s Slice Shop aims to be more – a throwback experience with later hours. It now has a definite vibe from that era, by design.

"In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

So I stopped by Geraci's to grab a slice around 1PM and well, not happening. After talking with a few of the staff they were absolutely slammed at 11AM and waits were about an hour by the time I came through. They're closing until 3 to regroup but they were saying people were generally understandable. And just fyi, slices'll be $5 for cheese and $6 for toppings.
