Andre Scott, Jeremiah Burks, Christopher Thomas and Ryan Gullatt — the same restaurateurs who opened The Haunted House Restaurant in Cleveland Heights in 2021 — are managing the new space-themed restaurant in the Tower City location that had been vacant for eight years. It took an invitation from Bedrock Cleveland, Dan Gilbert's Detroit-based development company, for the partners to consider the site at 230 W. Huron Road, according to the NEOtrans blog. May 23, 20241 yr Jade Steak & Sushi closes in Cleveland https://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/2024/05/jade-steak-sushi-closes-in-cleveland.html Article is paywalled but I cannot say I am surprised. I feel like half of these "concept" restaurant owners go in planning to close the business within 2-3 years to open another concept in the same place. They're all very current trend places trying to make a quick buck off of the hype of being a new restaurant doing something people want, with higher prices than their competitors. Then when that quickly wears off they just move to the next new concept. I would bet that by the end of 2025, the same thing happens to places like Jaja, Bright Side, Filter, and whatever moves into the old Greenhouse Tavern location next. That way, they're always the brand new trendy restaurant all of the Cleveland influencers are telling people they "HAVE to check out"

I took the kids there once about a month ago and my wife took them there last week. I was there with them on a Monday, so not the busiest day of the week, but it was still what I think was quiet even for a Monday. And my wife was there with them on a weekend, when you'd think business would be better, and she said it was still not exactly busy, and the food quality has not at all kept pace with price increases. Entrees with even one side dish upgrade now easily top $20. Even the kids, who love to go out to eat just because it's still a more novel experience for them, weren't exactly impressed. My wife's trip there may well have been the family's last. We're cooking more and more at home, even though it's hard to carve out time. Our fallback option has increasingly become prepared food from full-service grocery stores (Acme and Mustard Seed mostly). Even that can easily run $60 for a meal for five now, but sit-down restaurants are hitting closer to $80-$100.

They got away from their core market and weren't able to keep a handle on QC. Also, it made them less unique. I used to go quite a bit, but haven't been since they closed the Cleveland Heights location.
