The food quality was ok. It was surprisingly pricey. You're paying for the atmosphere. (Pun very very much intended). The space/sci-fi movies playing on the TVs is a nice touch and the artwork is super cool all over the place.

It's the type of place that if in the right location would be a cool tourist draw. The artwork and murals throughout are outstanding. I'd recommend going to check it out. It's not the type of place I would go back to for the express purpose of eating. It would be to show it off to a sci-fi fan or to a kid.

Sounds like it would have been better located out by Lewis-Glenn.

Primary owners are Ally Eclarin, originally from California’s Bay Area, and Cassy Kopp, who is from New Philadelphia, lived in Canton-Massillon and attended Kent State. Shelley Pippin of Brewnuts is a minority partner in the bar, whose target opening date is 2025, though Eclarin noted that is a bit ambitious. She was also not ready to reveal the exact location of the bar on the West Side.

I will be happy when the unfortunate trend of using the word “social” in restaurant names has abated. Google “social restaurant Cleveland” and there are at least 12 of them, lol.

From today's "The Land" 2 new restaurants in Edgewater and Cudell:

Two new businesses open in Cudell and Edgewater neighborhoods

BY LEE CHILCOTE ● DEVELOPMENT, ECONOMY, ENTREPRENEURS ● NOVEMBER 26, 2024

A pair of new businesses, Edgewater Sub Shop and Dahlia Coffee Company, recently opened in Cleveland’s Cudell and Edgewater neighborhoods, bringing new energy and life to what were previously culinary dead zones.

Edgewater Sub Shop, located at 8605 Detroit Ave. and open seven days a week, now offers hot and cold subs made fresh at an open counter in a bright, hip storefront. Situated smack dab between Lakewood and the Gordon Square Arts District, the area was a virtual sandwich desert until owner Amin “Vinny” Elkhatib and his brothers, Fathie and Adam, opened Edgewater Sub right next to the Boost Mobile store that is also owned by Elkhatib.

Dahlia Coffee Company, a woman- and Latina-owned business, recently moved to the Cudell neighborhood, as well. The Mexican coffee shop, which is open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and 9 am to 3 pm on Saturday and Sunday, is located in the former Scoot! Coffee location at 2085 W. 114th St. right off of Berea Road. The new, enlarged space offers the startup the ability to expand their menu and host more events, said owner Natalia Alcazar, thereby exposing more Clevelanders to the magic of Mexican coffee.

Probably stuck with social for a while as there are multiple AI restaurant naming apps that liklely churn it out.  Add BGR and STK and anything lower case with a "+" in between.  But i am still waiting to see Dad's favorite name SOS (s@#t ona shingle).

^ oh yeah my dad used to make us that. army guys lol. he was in the army in texas with elvis.

as a kid i liked sos ok, but its certainly not good for you. 🔥

Tick Tock Tavern closing after 75+ years
By Ken Prendergast / December 6, 2024

It’s not often that a restaurant survives more than a few years. Rarer still is the restaurant that lasts nearly eight decades. Tick Tock Tavern, which has been at the same location, 11526 Clifton Blvd., in the Edgewater neighborhood of Cleveland since the last electric streetcars rumbled by in 1948, is set to close its doors forever in just 12 days.

Home for the holidays: Local food entrepreneurs set up shop at The Grocery at City Goods

Karin Connelly RiceThursday, December 05, 2024

Just in time for the holidays, City Goods, JumpStart, and Ohio City Incorporated (OCI) have partnered to launch a new food-focused retail concept: A pilot program that brings together local food entrepreneurs under one roof.

The Grocery at City Goods, launched in the beginning of November in one of six retail buildings at the City Goods complex, which opened two years ago at West 28th Street and Church Avenue in the Hingetown area and was recently acquired by OCI.

The food-oriented shop currently hosts about 20 food-based businesses on its first floor, with plans to expand to the second floor. The City Goods complex provides accessible retail space for small businesses, where the entrepreneurs pay a flat monthly fee and keep 100% of their sales.

Dined at the freshly opened Friar’s Table restaurant (13th & Euclid) last evening. The neighborhood landed a gem. All the entrees are under $30, the food was so good, the service was fantastic, and the space is super cozy on a cold winter night. Brandon even stopped to chat at every table. What an incredible human being he is.

^ So good to hear. It is rare these days to have a restaurant owner on site and personally invested in that way. This neighborhood has the potential to be one of the best anywhere. It just needs more of everything. With the college being right there you would hope more amenities will come eventually.

Same on all counts. It feels like fine dining, but I was shocked at the affordable price point. Food and service were on point.

Lekko Coffee Opening New Location in Warehouse District

The second location of Lekko Coffee opens on Jan. 1 in Downtown Cleveland. By Annie Nickoloff

Lekko Coffee plans to start the new year off with a caffeine boost: On Jan. 1, the brand is opening a new cafe in Downtown Cleveland's Warehouse District, in the former Phoenix Coffee space at 826 W. St. Clair Ave.

It will be the second Lekko Coffee location, following the brand's flagship Ohio City shop which opened at the corner of Detroit Ave. and West 26th Street in 2021.

If you hit up a show at the Beachland and planned to grab a bite to eat at SSW Boardwalk first, be advised they have closed.

Bummer for a few reasons, but the best burgers in that area and perhaps in Collinwood.

reopening the restaurant would be awesome, it would be cleveland’s casa bonita, but realistically it would probably struggle there.

21 of the Best Wing Deals in Cleveland

By Kate Bigam Kaput on Fri, Jan 17, 2025

Inflation is real, and long gone are the days of 25-cent wing specials, even in Cleveland. The good news? If you know where to look, there are still plenty of clucking great deals to be found all throughout the city and well into the ‘burbs. We’ve rounded up 21 of our favorite Wing Nights (and in some cases, wing lunches and brunches) to help you decide where to get your next finger-lickin’ fix.

^ Looking forward to trying this place. Although I hope they’ve sorted out the ventilation in there. I loved Citizen Pie, but didn’t love standing in a cloud of kitchen vapor and my clothes smelling the rest of the day.

Seriously, did this city just go on a nose dive like a plane losing it's hydraulics? Good grief.

They were in business for 25+ years. Most of those types of clubs rebrand every 3-5 years. They never did.

I am forever a Doug Katz fan. When my family and I visited Cleveland in August, we stayed in University Circle and had dinner at Zhug. Not only was the food excellent, when we were finished, a very friendly, smiling gentleman asked if he could clear our table. As he was walking away, I thought, “wait, that looks like Doug Katz.”  Sure enough, our server confirmed it was indeed him and that he does that all the time. From helping to clear, to polishing glasses, the server said he helps out in every way. I love to hear that.

I didn’t either but I’m a lazy downtowner so my world consists of downtown, Tremont, Detroit Shoreway, Ohio City, Lakewood, Herbs and Indian in Parma.

The concept is fine, but environment and neighborhood has a to do with it.  That part of beachwood just has no feel.  Diametrically opposite experience as the food truck park in Lakewood

Same. I just googled it only to find out I drive by it at least once a month. Never even noticed it was there.

We ate at Kiln a couple weeks ago and it was excellent.  Doug came by and talked to us for at least 10 minutes and then moved on table by table just chatting with random diners.  When we left, he was helping to run food out from the kitchen.
