February 18, 201114 yr You really can't go wrong with anything at the Tap House, seriously. The only thing that didn't really pop out at me on the menu was the Trout, but I tried a bite at my table and it was really good. If you like mussels I would suggest the mussels and fries. Its steamed mussels with fries on top all in a garlic butter.

And a positive one at that. Before Sunset it was Bourbon St. Cafe. Only the name changed. Same bands, same aura. I think Crop would be crazy to try and change the casual atmosphere.

We went to Alaturka on Sat 19 Feb and really enjoyed it. I have little experience with Turkish food, so everything was new to me...my date knew more about Turkish food, and Middle Eastern food in general. Started out with Turkish wine...we tried a white and a red...both good, although I thought the white was better. We split the Ezme (tomato) salad dip, served with delicious Turkish bread as well as pita. We then split a Lamb Adana with yogurt--delicious! It's served over pita-croutons, sort of like "Turkish stuffing." I've never had anything like that. Desserts were excellent too: Kunefe (baked shredded phyllo dough with sweet cheese and honey) and Kazandibi ("milk pudding"...like a light custard.) Portions were generous, and represented a good value given the quality. Service was excellent--our waiter explained everything and made good recommendations. The decor, although clean and spacious, is a bit dull (although the space is larger than it appears from the street.) Unfortunately, there were only a few other tables when we arrived around 8:45 pm on a Saturday night...and we were among the last to leave. So we encourage others to try Alaturka!

I also ate at Alaturka on Saturday. A friend and I had early dinner (before 5 PM) and there were a few other tables of people there at that time, but they weren't busy. The food was delicious. We had the Hummus for an appetizer, and Lamb Kofte and Chicken Saute for entrees. I also had the dark Turkish beer, which was pretty good. I hope others eat here as it's definitely a nice option to have in Ohio City.

February 27, 201114 yr The food at Anatolia was crazy delicious last night: grape leaves, lamb shishcabob, some shrimp dish, some kind of (let me butcher the name here) bachlabah desert, couple glasses of yummy red, and the nicest and most attentive waitress ever despite the place being packed. One issue only: I must have misread the menu in the dark because I could have sworn my lamb said $8, not $16. If that's the lunch price only, well, I definitely misread the menu. Hopefully. No biggy though. Great dinner all around

March 1, 201114 yr There's a couple of new places that just opened/opening up around town: Bon Apetit - a french cafe next to Moe's Southwest Grille on Euclid Avenue. Now open. "Name unknown" - located at E. 30th and Euclid, it's a cafe serving Middle Eastern food. Now open. "Name unknown" - located in the old Mama Mia's of Lakewood, this is going to be a healthy fast food place. Not yet open. Sorry for vague info, I am just trying to share what I do know, hopefully others can share more info.

March 3, 201114 yr The interior portion of Eton, opposite the B-Spot, Albert's Furs, etc.. is undergoing a renovation right now, after several failed businesses in that space (the combo gourmet bites/wine bar place with floral dept and knick-knacks, etc...). Without knowing more, it's unclear if they are going to enclose this area or leave it open - though eatin at B Spots interior patio has been much more pleasant with that area closed off - since it is far too big/empty a space and just doesn't give off a good vibe in its present state). The one announced tenant is Chop-It Salad Co (www.chopitsaladco.com) - which apparently is a local company with two other locations. Their website leaves quite a bit to be desired. A yogurt place would make sense - likely being the tart yogurt like Pinkberry or Red Mango - which are hot on the coasts. As for the comment about Stone Oven - I love their pastries - but I loathe the grumpy people who work there. They could take the whole operation up a notch by actually being organize, helpful and friendly.

I highly recommend their other locations over the Eton one. I have never had a good experience there, and their selection seems more limited than the Lee Rd. restaurant (which is where they make their soups).

Food makes Cheesecake Factory look like high cuisine; it's serviceable but there are plenty of places right across Euclid ave with far better food for 10%-20% more in price. The martini selection is fun, assuming you like chocolate/sugary sweet alcohol beverages. Sort of a place to have a drink or two between dinner and the end of the night bar.

Also, I think that may say something about Cleveland's sophisticated pallate, since apparently the one in Buffalo is rather popular...

March 8, 201114 yr I think it is an absolutely fantastic addition to downtown/East 4th because I get the impression that out of towners and suburbanites love the place because it's different than anything in suburbs. Also it is not an intimidating menu for non-foodies. Lastly, LOTS of people LOVE chocolate.

I'd go to any number of places on E. 4th to eat dinner instead. However, for a wide selection of desserts and to have a fun drink (especially for the ladies) or two, it's a nice "in between place" to go (between dinner and finishing the night off at a more alcohol-oriented place like jbw suggested). That said, I do think it's a little overpriced for what it is, and I much prefer the desserts and atmosphere at Le Petit Triangle, but that's over in Ohio City, and I don't know of another easygoing dessert place downtown, so that's why I've been there. It's not my favorite, but I don't not suggest it either. Also, it seems to be rather popular, and provides a nice view of E.4th and Euclid out the front windows.
