Posted December 28, 200519 yr OK, this is probably only of interest to the true Ohio City/French food nerds of the board, but here ya go. ? Last week I met Trad Burns, the new owner of Le Oui Oui, the fantastic little creperie on Fulton in Ohio City. He and his partner just bought the restaurant from the current owners, who are I think one or two steps removed from the Frenchwoman who founded the place. They are taking over in January. Because Le Oui Oui is so popular, they're planning to move to the old laundromat space, two doors down, by March. They are looking into keeping the old space open as a coffee shop (which would be great, because the space is adorable, and we recently lost Metro Joe's). Trad, who's also a theater production chief in Cleveland and around the country, said they would be returning to fresher ingredients -- apparently the current owners cut some corners. That's all! December 28, 200519 yr I think some of it was in the paper. I remember reading about the expansion to the laundrymat space. It sounds like really good news for the neighborhood, though.

August 16, 200618 yr I'd be curious to see the views that Andrea's has. I belive it offers dramatic views of Lake Erie and the inner harbor. Bistro seating on the boardwalk puts you practically on the water, perfect for watching yacht club sailboat races that are held on Wednesdays.

August 16, 200618 yr We tried going to Andreas during hours posted as open and they were closed :cry: it looks great though. Very casual. they also have a fireplace which could be nice in the winter to look out on the lake, and ice. It actually is set back in the harbor, so it is not wide open lake view. still great through. speaking of new places, down in the flats (w bank) there is a place called the Dock or something like that in the power house where riverwalk cafe was located. I was not too thrilled with the food or , especially, the beer selections (crappy miller, bud etc) , but it was the first week they were open when we went-maybe they will expand. Burger was fine, fries unusually good. The deck looks expanded and it appears they are going to try and give Shooters a run for their money, with entertainment, over priced watery drinks, north ridgeville frosted hair and mullet sporting crowd all set to awesome views (and since it is walking distance, yes, I go!)

Seems like a great addition from looking at the menu that mrnyc linked to, which had a few photos of the restaurant in NYC. It would be nice if it could go somewhere that would give it some street frontage, but the only spot remaining at ground level that I can think of would be the old J. Crew along Huron.

Additionally, most of public square is one giant bus shelter that can attract a motley crue. but, imo, the first thing toward getting this crowd dispersed is to have some activities for people not waiting for the bus or asking for a handout - legitimate street level businesses/restaurants that care about their front door and their appearance. what exists today at street level to discourage undesirable behavior? very little. even renaissance and sans souci are really up 1 level from ground and don't interact with the square. bp, key, 55, moetzenbaum federal building don't interact at street level. if we could get something at street level at the dillards, i think it would have a big impact and at the very least move this crowd to another quadrant. probably all a moot point, as the release says "avenue at tower city", which would mean something most likely facing inward. the square does look much better now with the bushes trimmed/removed. you can actually see in!

This location should be nice, but once again, it'll be another one of those typical Cleveland "islands" a sea of inactivity -- a place where you have to drive -- does a bus even serve this area? After Jane's big plans of gone the way of the do-do, we need to focus energy on extending the Waterfront Line along the lake to stimulate needed development and, hopefully, expansion at the E.55/Shoreway pier marina.

From East 9th to the Inner Belt, I could not find any documentation in NOACA documents of pending or emerging plans for conversion of this roadway into a boulevard. This activity would have to, at least, be placed on NOACA's long-range plan in order to proceed. East of there to MLK, the East Shoreway is in NOACA's Tier III stage of planning, meaning that no construction funds can be allocated to it until the planning is complete. August 18, 200618 yr ah, where is the Lakefront Blvd; development plan now? Actually, this is one of the large projects that is closest to reality. I know for a fact that most of the engineering is complete, and ODOT has money in place to move forward with it. I guess we kind of diverted in this thread...exciting project however.

August 18, 200618 yr I think he is talking about the West Shoreway downgrade. This will end at the West 25/28th street area. The Boulevard from there east to Deadman's Curve has not been funded at all, but is not dead. It is just waiting. I think this is the portion that is currently being discussed in the Pescht thread. Boy, all of this transportation talk has made me hungry. Any new restaurants opening around downtown I can visit?

August 19, 200618 yr I'm not sure that MP has a liquore license yet. I heard that they were going to apply for one. I went about a month ago and the server was HORRIBLE. I like the food and the music. (Also, my 11-month old son was screaming his head off.) Anyways, I thought that the appetizers were better than the main dishes. Try la papa rellena. Its great. I also love papa a la huancaina. They are pretty authentic ( I lived in Peru for over two years), but sometimes thats not so good. They serve a lot of working man's dishes, which I never considered something that I would spend 10 bucks on. But hey, once they start serving Pisco Sours..call me a cab!

August 21, 200618 yr I went a couple of weeks ago. It was my first Peruvian experience. Service was good, didn't have apps, ate the mixed seafood with rice. It was very good except for some bits of shell that made their way into the final dish. Calamari and octopus (served whole!) were some of the most tender I've had in a long time. The Peruvian popcorn was a tasty little treat as well.

August 21, 200618 yr ... but back to my original point. Cleveland has some great restaurants and has been greatly improving; these new ones should really boost us. But I think we need to work on connecting neighborhoods so these new spots are less island/nodes cut off from the rest of the city-- even, say, Ponte Vecchio, though right near the Flats/Ohio City, is cut off becuase of the current lack of access from the Flats; plans in Stonebridge's current phase under construction, I'm reading, could solve this. Certainly, the lakeshore plan, when it's actually executed, will go light years toward reaching this goal.

September 2, 200618 yr ^ ah yes Edison's. I have had carry out there before and enjoyed it, however I was not in a state where I was the most discriminating food critic, if you know what I mean. I do think Tremont has options including Big Guys next to Hotz (same owner) they do a nice job too. I guess OC is really lacking in Pizza.

September 6, 200618 yr Oh man, Edison's is my fave since returning to Cleveland! Banana peppers, pesto sauce & black olives! OCP is tasty if you do the pesto sauce instead of the tomato sauce, but it's still not that great... On the news in Detroit-Shoreway...I've noticed that they put up window coverings and assumed that work was underway. I had no idea the project was going to be this substantial, though! It's great news. Now, what about the coffee shop that was supposed to be moving in on the corner? Not a lot of progress over there... And we're going to have a vacancy in the old Charing Cross book store location soon...
