May 6, 20205 yr Permit filed for a Beyond Juicery+Eatery in Uptown at 11431 Euclid. This is in addition to the permit for a location at 226 Euclid. There's a Bibibop at this location, but I guess they're permanently closing?
May 9, 20205 yr Rough Winter/Spring for Eastern suburbs restaurants between virus and competition: Brio at Legacy, Bravo at Eton (the company that owns both may close all or most of their 99 restaurants) and Bahama Breeze all closed March-April after 16-17 years - just as Fleming's at Eton did last Summer. Add to that Abuelo's (12ish years) at Harvard Park and City Works and Next Door at Pinecrest (16ish months each) which closed late 2019/early 2020 and there are some major vacancies. And we will see what happens upcoming... Related (to city not suburbs... May 10, 20205 yr Any word is Dante is still going to move forward with Goma eventually? I would expect a delay but hopefully it isn’t scrapped totally.
May 10, 20205 yr New restaurant going into 850 Euclid Ave. Not sure what it's called but it seems that it will be a jerk chicken place. Used to be the location of Cleveland Pickle sandwich shop and most recently Hatfield's Good Grub Express. https://m.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2020/05/12/ujerk-caribbean-eatery-to-bring-island-cuisine-to-the-heart-of-downtown Edited May 12, 20205 yr by downtownjoe Added article about new restaurant

I know they had a place in Lakewood, but I thought that it was an additional--not a replacement--location. I liked their sandwiches thought they put too much sauce on them if you didn't tell them otherwise. Very happy to hear about a jerk chicken place opening as I love jerk chicken. I've been meaning to try the new jerk chicken place in Old Brooklyn--iRiE Jamaican Chicken.

May 11, 20205 yr (Apparently) Add J. Alexander's/Lyndhurst Grill to the closed east suburban chain restaurant group. Ouch! This was a 2-3x a month for 20 years kind of place for us. Had been watching the crowds dwindle a bit in recent years. Still "mostly full" most days we dined recently but rarely a wait, etc. Seemed a bit off and apparently it was. Not sure whats going to be left. CLE isn't alone in closings of many types of restaurants but so many now gone - doesn't bode well for the future. No matter how you feel about chains, this isn't a good thing as for how CLE is viewed by potential entrants into the market. Edited May 11, 20205 yr by eyehrtfood

May 15, 20205 yr I will really miss next-door Eatery at Pinecrest they had the best fish and chips we went there often. It looks likely closed all of them except the ones in their home state of Colorado with the exception of one in Illinois
May 15, 20205 yr Did anyone else get the apology letter from BJ's Brewhouse for their Mothers Day takeout service? Must have been quite the meltdown!
May 15, 20205 yr Mother's Day is the worst day for everyone in the food service industry. Everybody is determined to make up for a year spent ignoring and abusing Mom by hounding and abusing the waitstaff. Anyway, BJ's Brewhouse is the TGIF of brewpubs.
May 15, 20205 yr Just drove by and looks as though Rosie's Kitchen in Solon is permanently closed. All signage is gone and window boarded up. I don't think it lasted two years, about the same length of time the restaurant it replaced, Paco's Tacos was open at that spot. I believe both places were owned by the group which owns Burntwood Taverns which seem to thrive.

On the other hand, M in Chagrin Falls is a restaurant which is constantly packed. Strange how "CAP" missed twice on this Solon spot.

I was at Rebol yesterday and none of the employees were wearing face masks. Didn’t look like any employee or customer protections We’re taken at all. Sad thing was there was a sheriffs deputy sitting inside at the counter without a mask on as well. I think I’m going to file a complaint with CDPH ??♂️
May 17, 20205 yr Lebanon, I think. But it could be Syria. Some families who came over long ago enough didn't differentiate.
May 17, 20205 yr All restaurants, bars, and places of businesses that aren't following the rules should be called out on. Report every instance to CDPH (or the proper county board of health if in the burbs) AND the Ohio Dept of Health, and to the media, and on social media. I purposely am staying in as much as possible, but if I see anything, I will certainly report it. By either being Fox news followers, brainwashed/braindead Trump followers, or just trying to make a buck, these business owners/managers will kill innocent people. These people need to be exposed.

May 17, 20205 yr I don't think I've met any of the George's personally, so I can't speak to that. But it's odd that anyone who's representing any public facing business would make that comment, really.

May 18, 20205 yr Question about facebook. On Townhall's facebook page there are reviews. This is what the first one says: "Overrated and unsanitary with garbage management...." Don't businesses control their own facebook pages? If so, wouldn't townhall (or any business) just delete all negative comments and leave only the good ones? And if so, why would anyone place a negative review on a company's facebook page--unless maybe to tell them what they're thinking. Or are reviews real and can't be controlled by the facebook page holder?
