This is really going to be something... Cant wait to check it out.  From street level you would have no idea what the inside looks like (as is with most of the old banks)

^Isn't there already a coffee place there?

There was a Caribou Coffee in there which closed about 2 years ago as part of the larger shut down of locations after the Peet's acquisition. It's currently vacant.

Sneak Peek: Marble Room Steak and Raw Bar set to open in Cleveland's historic Garfield Building

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Solid marble staircases, chandeliers, rows of floor-to-ceiling pillars and a below-ground bank vault. This spring, downtown's forthcoming Marble Room Steak and Raw Bar, 623 Euclid Ave., will open the doors to one of the most ambitious dining ventures in the city.

The historic Garfield Building at the corner of Euclid Ave. and East 6th St., a sprawling space that hovers around 10,000-square-feet, was formerly home to a National City Bank. Now in the hands of Frank and Malisse Sinito, who also own Valley View's LockKeepers, the lobby is undergoing a transformation into an upscale dining destination.

A steak-and-seafood concept, Marble Room's menu will be split almost evenly between both offerings. That menu will be helmed by Alberto Leandri, who currently serves as executive chef of LockKeepers.

I've thought the façade restoration has been above and beyond what one might expect, but WOW!, what a beautiful interior of the bank, and its all being restored/refurbished. Great for Cleveland. And from the few pictures of the apts. above, I don't know which is more beautiful, the old or the new in this project. This is truly going to be one of the best downtown assets in Cleveland when it opens up again. Thanks to all involved in this gorgeous project.

Sandy Cutler & son's passion project -- the place is under construction and looks better every day at the corner of SOM Center and Chagrin Blvd - BUT:

2 seatings a night (5:30 and 8:30)... Only those with dining reservations allowed at the bar... My interest level dropped in a major way after a I heard that...

"A list of things are beginning to align — a name change; the start of hiring nearly 40 employees; and the naming of John Stropki, executive chef for eight years with Eaton Corp., as the new executive chef — that mean a spring opening of a new high-end French-American restaurant in Moreland Hills is on track."

i dk, a high end experience like that for fancy french inspired dining sounds pretty sweet as a special occasion.

i just wish people would open low end french bistros too. they most certainly exist.

Oh no, you might have to plan out an evening ahead of time instead of showing up in the middle of the dinner rush expecting a table for 8 right now!

The place is pretty much meant for Sandy's friends and associates.

This place sounds awesome. No better cure for the winter weather blahs than ramen and other brothy Asian noodles. And this kind of KFC. Hope this place does well.

Owner Shuxin Liu, a cook of two years at Momocho, will open Xinji Noodle Bar (4211 Lorain Ave.), an ambitious farm-to-bowl eatery in a building being renovated by Doug Perkowski of Cleveland Lofts. When it opens in late March or April, the restaurant will specialize in Japanese-style ramen, Korean-style fried chicken, smoked chicken wings and steamed buns.

Ramen is my crack.  Talking about regional Asian cuisine.  Yeah, that's serious.

Yeah I'm excited about this.

^ now that is just fantastic -- and talk about a fitting name for the place!

Cant wait. I did't close my PNC account after they bought out Nat City and one of the reasons was for the continued reason to use this same lobby.

That 600 feet could cost the city or RTA $12 million dollars (not including the added expense for RTAs day to day operations), and has already cost one person their life.  Hardly a comparison to a debate on restaurant seatings....

OK, guys, enough.

Anyone here think that wasn't gonna fail? Awful location, raunchy concept. Just terrible.  Scary a smart guy like a doctor thought that would play.

I'm betting the "logic" behind it was that a lot of pro athletes live in Westlake, and they like that sort of thing...ya know....butt collagen, bottle service, etc.

Perhaps you could reference Eyeheartfood's post just a few posts above yours (reply #6864 to be exact) where he specifically says that Sandy Cutler's new restaurant would only have two seatings: one at 5.30 and one at 8.30. That's what I'm talking about.

Is there anything more awful than Miami, or anything claiming to be like it in any way?

This place looks like it was so Westlake.

I hate to be cynical with small business owners who take a gamble and actually put their money where their mouths are... but jesus that video was awkward.

Portion, new restaurant by Wonder Bar team, to bring fast-casual fare to downtown Cleveland in March

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Among a sea of foodie neighbors on East 4th St., Wonder Bar is known more for its craft cocktails than its pub grub. Come mid-March, it plans to add its mark to the downtown Cleveland scene when Wonder Bar's husband-and-wife operating team of Robert and Coleen Biehl open Portion in the historic 1850s-constructed Southworth building near Public Square, 2013 Ontario St.

The 2,500-square-foot space with seating for around 50 people will be centered on a fast casual menu developed by Robert. Split into hot and cold offerings, everything listed will be around $10 or under. With a seasonally rotating menu featuring locally sourced ingredients, the Biehls aim to give an inexpensive, elevated option for a quick bite.

A barbecue joint will soon join the quickly burgeoning bar, restaurant and entertainment scene along Lorain Avenue in Ohio City. Next up for the strip that includes Platform Beer, The Grocery OHC, Herb'n Twine, the Plum, Jack Flaps, Ohio City Provisions (and the forthcoming Forest City Shuffleboard and Xinji Noodle Bar) is Ohio City BBQ.

Owner Nav Singh is on track to open Ohio City BBQ (3829 Lorain Ave.) in the former Ohio City Tattoo spot by late April, he says.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Dynomite Burgers and Sushi Uptown is done. Cleveland chef Zack Bruell's fast-casual eatery will serve its last burger on Friday.

"I believe in the concept and the neighborhood, but we just couldn't make it work down there," says Bruell, referring to the Uptown development in University Circle. "There are just so many fast-casual restaurants."

Dynomite opened two years ago to much fanfare. It expanded on the offerings of Bruell's Playhouse Square takeout restaurant of the same name by adding seating and a menu that included sushi and spirits to go with burgers inspired by Bruell spots such as Parallax, L'Albatros and Chinato.

We actually had dinner there last year, and the food was good -- I love Indian food -- and the proprietors were nice -- it was a husband, wife and daughter (waitress) operation at that time.  But we feared it wouldn't make it.  It was a warm weekday night and we were the only folks in there at this prime location.  Let's hope Portion has a better run.
