January 18, 20196 yr The name "Republic" reminds me of "District" which, if its still there, is across the street. Is District a Driftwood restaurant also? Not sad to see Otto Mosers go. The original one was cool, but the one at Playhouse Sq was just ordinary and greasy food.

The Columbus-based fast-casual Lebanese/Mediterranean restaurant brand is starting to serve diners at its Shaker Heights site in suburban Cleveland Friday. “It’s a natural evolution for us to look at the other great Ohio cities,” said Kevin Malhame, co-founder and owner of Organic Trails Cafe, the company behind Brassica. Malhame co-owns the restaurant company with his wife Katy Malhameand brother Darren Malhame. May 17, 20196 yr ^ I only meant it's not good they're closing because I enjoy going there. This town is filled with red sauce joints so it is nice to have a different type of Italian place.

Was East 4th even full the last time their lease came up? When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?

MRN has been very good at curating a destination that is hoping from lunch to midnight. They need a few more neighborhood necessities to compliment the dining, but overall the area is solid and they have been a good foundation and catalyst for the developments that are currently under construction or planned.
May 28, 20196 yr Not surprising. The three times I've been in there in the past few years, the place has been virtually empty.... "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
May 28, 20196 yr Not surprised either. Ate there ONCE and gave it a 5 out of 10, that I'd never go back - was very underwhelming. CLE needs good diners though on the west side, so I was disappointed that this place wasn't so good....

Last time I walked in there, it smelled really bad---like cleaner + other weird smells. I paused for a moment, then turned around and walked out---and I rarely ever do that. And i had eaten there before and it was fine. If that new smell was a constant then probably lots of people walked out and hence their troubles.... sorry to see them go as I had liked it when I did eat there.

The trend is already moving away from sit down restaurants, just as it is away from the idea that eating is inherently a social activity. Causing it to take too long moves the trade off in the direction of "just grabbing something".

June 24, 20195 yr Yeah, Trio had great food, but their price point turned me off if I'm being honest. I think it's hard to draw the clientele that the price point demands in that location no matter how good the food is. Hard to compete with more established places like Dante and Fahrenheit especially when you're off the main strip.
