February 5, 20214 yr Fast-casual restaurant expanding to Cleveland with restaurant, ghost kitchen Hot Chicken Takeover is expanding in Northeast Ohio. The Columbus fast-casual restaurant and social enterprise has a pair of new projects in the works in the Cleveland area. Its second traditional restaurant in the area will open in the Royalton Collection in Strongsville this spring. But that isn’t the only new development. The company also will establish a delivery-only “ghost kitchen” in downtown Cleveland, also set to open in the spring. February 20, 20214 yr Wow, after 7 years...+ 1 year of COVID, oh, and looted, POUR has closed its downtown location. Hoping things get going again by mid-spring and the NFL Draft can really pull people into town for the hotels and businesses. But, like POUR, many businesses, especially downtown, are barely surviving as this pandemic continues in February heading into year 2. Geigers closing is also a major loss. Light at the end of the tunnel though... I think we’ll see a downtown summer resurgence but what a setback this year has been. Edited February 20, 20214 yr by CLENYC

February 26, 20214 yr Hofbrauhaus Cleveland set to reopen next week https://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/2021/02/hofbrauhaus-cleveland-set-to-reopen-next-week.html CLEVELAND, Ohio – Hofbrauhaus Cleveland is set to reopen its beer hall Wednesday, March 3. Some restrictions will be in place. Face masks will be required when diners are not at a table. The hall will have a capacity of 192 patrons – less than half what it can accommodate - with per-table parties no larger than 10. When the restaurant reopened last year it used a reservation-only policy and underwent weekly deep cleaning. Staffers were required to have their temperature taken. One person per shift was dedicated as Covid safety patrol, to make sure common areas were disinfected. When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?

Here’s a not-paywalled article in this new location: https://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/2021/03/choolaah-to-open-new-restaurant-location-in-ohio-city.html?outputType=amp CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Local Indian restaurant chain Choolaah is set to open its first West Side spot, with a new location entering Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood this summer. Jay Nesbitt, Choolaah’s chief creative officer, said that the brand plans to open the new spot at 1903 W. 25th St. in August or September. The location takes over a former Howard Hanna office, located between Mitchell’s Ice Cream and Townhall restaurant and bar. March 12, 20214 yr Buffalo Wings & Rings planning push into Cleveland area Buffalo Wings & Rings is in the early stages of planning for an expansion into the Cleveland area, starting with about 10 restaurants. The sports-themed restaurant and bar started in 1984 in Loveland, Ohio, a Cincinnati suburb, and now has 20 locations in Ohio and 65 elsewhere, including Europe and the Middle East, said Thomas Flaherty, chief development officer. "Cleveland is a great next step for us," Flaherty said. The restaurant chain is looking for a local franchisee before it commits to locations, but its market research shows that Westlake, Rocky River, Solon, Highland Heights, Avon Lake and in downtown Cleveland near sports stadiums "all jump out as areas where it makes sense," he said. March 12, 20214 yr I hope Pour does well on their roasting and bean subscription business, but I didn't really understand the decision to drop their storefront downtown. If anything, it gave them more brand recognition in the area. Very glad another good (and broadly local) coffee option is taking over the space.
March 12, 20214 yr I was really confused by the article about Pour closing. They made it sound like without event traffic they had no business... but wouldn’t their base be local residents and office workers? In any event glad to see it taken over so soon. This along with Goma and the new Indie restaurant have taken care of some sizable pandemic related closures. Now we wait to see what happens to the Lola space.

Agreed in the disappointment - Lindey's was a nice alternative, now being replaced by yet more Italian casual with a "wood-burning oven" 🙄 Fortunately it appears the Flats location is still Lindey's.
March 25, 20214 yr ^Yeah, that's too bad. When I was at the Lakewood location, it was pretty packed, so whatever the reason, it wasn't due to a lack of business in the Lakehouse format.
