I'm not a fan of the design--grey with some grey, a splash of grey, and then a little grey.

Great to hear Nighttown is returning. There’s no way that building is 150 years old, as the article mentions.

A new LLC called 13051 Larchmere Hospitality LLC has applied for a liquor license for this location, up for approval in today's Shaker Heights City Council meeting: https://www.shakeronline.com/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Item/4307?fileID=6719

I would try to listen in for more details, but the main item on the agenda is public comment regarding the removal of the Horseshoe Lake dam, and I imagine that's going to eat up a LOT of time.

With Minh Anh at W. 54 and Detroit now closed, is there another recommended restaurant for great Vietnamese food on the West Side anywhere?

Curious to see what becomes of this.  Interestingly it shows 13051 Larchmere Hospitality as incorporating in the middle of June, while the Larchmere Tavern hadn't announced it was closing till sometime in August.

Choolaah looks to finish construction on its new location in Ohio City next to TownHall

The popular TownHall restaurant on West 25th Street could be saying hello to a new neighbor around the end of the year.

While material delays are still possible, representatives of Choolaah Indian BBQ told the Cleveland Business Journal that the restaurant planned for 1899 W. 25th Street is looking to finish up on construction around the time 2022 rolls in.

“Like all industries, we are seeing challenges in supply chain across the board,” said Jay Nesbitt, chief creative officer for Wholesome International, Choolaah’s Pittsburgh-based parent company. “As such, we have been working hard over the past year and a half to adjust accordingly.”

Cocky's Bagels eyes soft-opening in Cleveland's Flats

Fans of Cocky’s Bagels who live in downtown Cleveland will have to just wait a little bit longer before enjoying a bagel sandwich by the Cuyahoga River.

The new location planned for 1127 Old River Rd. is still finishing up construction and looking to open by wintertime, coinciding with other projects in the Flats, including the new ESPN Cleveland Headquarters, The Frozen Daiquiri Bar, and BrewDog.

The restaurateur couple, Natalie Bata and Keene Cockburn, opened their first Cocky’s location in North Olmsted in 2019. Before that, Cocky’s operated out of a food truck for a couple years.

But we consider ourselves a "foodie" destination. Then again, maybe every city considers themselves that, I don't know.

Which Cleveland restaurants should have made the list? I'm not the one to say. Though we have many well-reviewed restaurants and others not reviewed at all, I have not eaten at most of them to come up with a list of the top restaurants that would be a proper list. I'd have to eat at least 50 of the top Cleveland restaurants to give you meaningful rankings.

I think pretty much every city thinks it’s a foodie destination. Probably because eating out of home is such a commonplace thing. Statistically-speaking, there’s little to no reason to expect any Cleveland restaurant to make the cut. Even excluding the chains, there’s almost a million restaurants in the US.

To add, we don't have a food/restaurant/dining/hospitality trade PR team, like many other cities.  If that is incorrect, please correct me.  Some "restaurant groups" have PR firms to market and promote themselves, alone or in coordination with the local restaurant association(s) and travel bureaus.

What does Cleveland's restaurant association and travel bureau do to promote and market the city/county - restaurants and chefs??.  Hell, we don't even have an eater micro site, but Austin does?  🤷🏽‍♂️

Lets look at the root of the problem, not what the NYTimes has published.

Why do we even care. This isn't 2014 Cleveland looking for validation. Also Destination Cleveland does do that.

Validation?  Where did I write or imply that?  it's about business and continuing to build around a core business - destination dining.

Destination Cleveland does not have a dedicated PR team that solely promotes the dining/hospitality businesses within the trades.  Destination Cleveland covers consumer marketing, not brand and trade marketing.

A real loss for the community.

And now this. WTF?? Way too many popular restaurants and shops are closing!

FYI/PSA: Dave's Cosmic Subs is open! They also have a help wanted sign in the window, and it looks like they need it; the place was jam packed.

Amba, a new restaurant by Doug Katz, is set to open in Cleveland

A new restaurant will open in the Hingetown neighborhood of Cleveland's Ohio City in March.

Amba, an Indian-fusion restaurant that started as a ghost kitchen in Cleveland Heights during the pandemic, has found a new home at 1430 W. 28th St. in a 4,800 square-foot building draped in a large tiger mural.

The highlighted is so confusing.  Correct me if i'm wrong, but wouldn't a better way to write this be, "a new restaurant will open in the Hingetown district of Cleveland's Ohio City Neighborhood"?

This is example of not having a dedicated dining/hospitality PR group as mentioned in another thread.

On W 6th?  If so it's very good.   Not mind blowing, but very good.  If you go make sure to get the home made warm pita bread with the sesame dipping sauce.

Sorry yes, w 6th.  I’m a little tired.

It's an upscale Lebanese restaurant from the Aladdin's Eatery folks.  Some of the food is the same, but there are also some more high end items added to the menu, and a high end fine dining atmosphere.  I've only eaten at Taza a couple times, but everything was quite good.

Only eaten at the one at Eton in Woodmere, but thought it was excellent.

Anyone have a recommendation for Eastern European food in CLE?  Anyone been to Marie’s on St Clair?

I've been to Maries but I can't remember if they have food?   I just had drinks there.

It's not in Cleveland, but I've always liked the restaurant at the Croatian Lodge in Eastlake, Dubrovnik Gardens.   You won't find any hipsters here, mostly older Croat folks eating with family.   I think they close early as well.

Yes, I love Marie's. And my Ukrainian wife and son love Marie's too. Bring your appetite!

I also recommend Olesia's Tavern of Richfield for Ukrainian, Balaton for Hungarian, Europa for Russian, Le Petit Triangle Cafe and L'Albatross for French, Der Braumeister, Hansa Haus and Das Schnitzel Haus for German, Prosperity Social Club and Krakow Foods & Deli for Polish, The Harp and The Public House for Irish and about a million places for Italian.
