^Absolutely.  I had the Jeni's cayenne-chocolate-cinnamon and it was amazing.

OMG.  This ice cream is SOOOO GOOD!  I love spicy food and this is the perfect balance of "yum" creamy with a nice balance of heat!

That does sound really disgusting.....  as a dessert at least.  I could see maybe it being good with a meal.

Yeah... but you're probably 'that guy' who puts Brother Bru Bru's on your cereal.

I've never heard that until now.  Granted the pictures look spicier than it probably is!

After a soft opening tonight, The Dragonfly Lounge at 1865 W. 25th officially opens for business tomorrow.

http://www.dragonflycleveland.com/

Looks cute, I wonder if they will serve food/apps/tapas?

yes... and sushi.

wait, what am I missing...I thought Dragonfly opened like a year ago?  I guess I don't know since I've not been there, but PD article on their linked from their website is from January.

I believe they are just now beginning to serve sushi and not just drinks.

yes... and sushi.

They need to update the "menu".

Yeah I was there in the spring, so its been open a while.  Nice space but they were trying to be all Velvet Tango room, but not even close.  The "bartender" guy refused to make a vodka drink because he doesnt like vodka....

If it were'nt for (forgot her name)  Miss lovely/roller derby girl/co-owner of the garage hanging out and helping at the bar, we woulda been outa there sooner, but there is something very lovely about her that kept us there for a while....

Yeah they were always supposed to also be a sushi bar, so I guess thats what the grand opening is for.

it's a lounge.  The bartender should know how and make every drink (within reason) a paying customer requests.

With staff like that, the place will not be open long.

It would be foolish to try and replicate the VTR. And while vodka is not the drink of a true connoisseur, no need to judge-plenty of people like it...myself include don occasion. One thing about VTR is all customers are treated with so much class regardless what they order. As far as the Garage owners name, I am now going to out of my mind trying to recall it...unique, maybe starts with an S? Nice lady. Hope Dragon Fly does well and develops their own persona.

DF has been "open" in some sort of limbo because they were having some permitting issues in regards to opening their kitchen, now that this has all been resolved they are opening the place they intended.

I thought they were open, too, but several times this month I've tried to go there and they've been closed.  I couldn't find any hours on their website (they're still not there.)  Dunno what the deal is with the place, but I'm not gonna go out of my way to patronize them now.

Does anyone know when the flaming ice cube plans on getting a permanent sign? Im getting sick of what they have right now

I was talked into taking a slapshot from her at the Garage bar one night. My face was numb...

Good because if 327 were here I'm sure there would have been 3 rants about quality signage by this point.

I agree. It has been delayed due to, first....and this was a while back...review approval...then its now a matter of the company making it. The place is not even complete on the decor and ambiance which is supposed to come soon. Let's hold out a bit longer... the owners are really frustrated with how long it has taken too. Meanwhile, if anyone has not tried it, check it out. And, if you can, check out their Youngstown (Boardman) location too where there is a great retail component.

Yeah, where did he go?  Also, where has KOOW been?

Speaking of signage, how about that ugly "Check out our retail wine and beer selection" (or whatever it says) cheezy blue on white sign hanging right above the entrance to Light Bistro.  Every time I see it I think it's one of those stupid "Pick up some Bud Light for your next Browns tailgate" type signs you'd see at a gas station or something.

Yep....its as tacky as having a radio playing in a restaurant.

Flaming Ice..the cube on the square...now has the sign...lighting will follow...and a planned grand opening.

Saw that yesterday, actually saw the banner being taken away.  My first thought was that they should have made the backgound of the sign black to match the deli next door, but Dollar Bank actually has a forest green background as well so it is the Deli that is more out of line.

Regarding lighting, will the sign be back lit, or have spotlights?  I know there was electrical wiring behind the sign, as it could be seen while it was in its temporary stage.

Where can I get the best Pizza in Cleveland?

Edison's in Tremont!

Depends what you like - thin or thick crust, traditional toppings or gourmet stuff?

My favorite is Angelo's in Lakewood - http://www.angelosonline.com/pizza.html

If I still lived on the east side, it would be Valentino's in Little Italy for the white pizza - http://www.valentinos-pizza.com/ or Tasty Pizza in Lyndhurst - http://www.compolastastypizza.com/ - it's a little family restaurant with some tables in the back, and a self-serve beer cooler.

Overall, my sentimental hometown favorite is Yala's out in Lorain - http://www.yalaspizza.com/

I second Valentino's.

Geraci's in University Heights

Marotta's in Cleveland Heights

Valentino's in Little Italy

Carmella's in Euclid

Momma Santa's in Little Italy and Geraci's in University Heights are both well-known in the area for their pizza.

The Flaming Ice Cube sign will have internal lights. Electric work is being done.

I'd have to vote for Geraci's.  Angelo's is very good as well.  Vincenza's is the best Downtown.

I will throw out a least expected vote for not "the best" but for a least expected treat, more so..... Dish Deli in Tremont bakes daily, one or two fresh thin crust pizzas with some great toppings, all in the right balance. Its not just cheese and bread with ketchup on top. Often the ingredients are local and in season....and made from scratch. One would not expect to get such a nice treat in this place. They only make small quantities of quality, though, so if you're looking just to get stuffed with dough, there will not be enough. It sells out fast.

Valentino's in Little Italy

Vincenza's Downtown

Many restuarants have some really good pizzas that you wouldn't expect, like L'Albatros in University Circle.  You can go to the bar and order one to go.  Also, some places in Tremont and Ohio City are amazing.

EDIT: La Strada on E.4th apparently has $5 Happy Hour pizzas, and their stuff is pretty good as well: http://www.cleveland.com/happy-hour/index.ssf/2010/11/la_strada_happy_hour_offers_another_reason_to_smile_on_east_fourth_street.html

Damn this thread - I just phoned in my order for an artichoke and mushroom white pizza from Valentino's - there go my Weight Watcher points for the week... and I gotta trek from Lorain County to Little Italy for it.
