November 10, 200915 yr MTS, despite all the irritating behaviors and attitudes you've picked up in NYC, you sure make me laugh with all those funny graphic responses you come up with! Whereinthehelldoyoufindthem?? Honey, if I told you, I'd have to arrange your death....and I like you far too much for that!
November 10, 200915 yr Well, Williamsport is very different from NYC, but I wanted to share with you guys the City's most swanky and luxurious lofts. There are a few places around the Downtown area that have ones like these, and more places are converting their upper floors to lofts. These are more like long term executive hotel rooms, but you can rent one if you want to. 135 Flats

December 3, 200915 yr I saw New York Magazine laying around in the office so I started reading it while I grabbed some coffee. It's funny how fixated that magazine is on Manhattan real estate. A lot of people are seriously losing their ass! Since 2007, prices in Chelsea have declined like 37%. That's so much negative equity :-o On Craigslist I'm seeing all these studios going for 1500 on the Upper East side. Prices are just falling from the sky. It's insane. I hate to think of how Tokyo is doing. They're the epitome of artificially high prices and the housing stock is almost on par with that of a third world country.

Although prices have dropped 37% they were still too high. A lot of people have mortgages on homes higher than the property is worth. $1500 on the UES means nothing, what building is it in and what block is it on. I gave up on my move as the coop fees are too high for my taste, but there are property bargains. I saw some great penthouses, but in my mind, I'm not going to pay a coop fee that equals my mortgage.
December 4, 200915 yr Of course they were too high. That doesn't mean people aren't losing their ass! lol. I'm kinda glad Chelsea is losing value more in real terms than anywhere else. It's so overrated. Though i'd imagine stalled or scrapped projects after the Highline boom probably have a lot to do with it.

December 11, 200915 yr This is good news, when I move back in a few months maybe my $800 budget can actually get me across the East River this time around, and I won't need 5 roommates to make it happen.

Alone? I don't think so. Harlem, WH, Fort Green, Clinton Hills, Greenpoint, or Astoria maybe? and that is going to be a small apartment.
December 11, 200915 yr Not the UES, just Manhattan in general. Astoria and places around there are where I've lived in the past on that budget, and didn't mind it. Having to save for the next semesters tuition while living in NYC is not a fun task.

Having to save for the next semesters tuition while living in NYC is not a fun task. Look in Harlem, Washington Hts., Inwood (its beautiful near the cloisters and inexpensive), Clinton Hills, Prospect Hts./Crown Heights (near Franklin is still reasonable), Windsor Terrace (near prospect park SW) and Bedstuy/Bedstuy Hts. You have some options. You maybe be able to get closer in paying $800 with a roommate.
December 13, 200915 yr And I thought I had a small apartment! http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/manhattan/small_price_to_pay_yk3QVpgdWYWTBnEhJ0QPXN Small price to pay NYers' love for tiny apartments By ANGELA MONTEFINISE Last Updated: 2:00 PM, December 13, 2009 Posted: 3:37 AM, December 13, 2009 They do their dishes in the shower, sit sideways on the toilet and need to watch their weight just to fit into their bathrooms. But these cramped New Yorkers wouldn't have it any other way. A week after The Post told the story of Zaarath and Christopher Prokop and their 175-square-foot micro-studio on Sunday, other New Yorkers lined up to share their tales of living small, including a 55-square-foot apartment in Hell's Kitchen and a 90-square-foot home on the Upper West Side. "To me, it's all about location," said Eddie Rabon, 24, who lives in a microscopic Hell's Kitchen abode. "I'm in an amazing neighborhood, and the money I save on rent alone lets me really enjoy New York for what it is. My apartment is a place to hang my hat and catch a few hours of sleep. That's it." http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/

December 13, 200915 yr Okay, there's absolutely no kind of kitchen - fine. Okay, he tried a Murphy bed but that didn't work because he can't afford food for a proper diet didn't weigh enough to hold it down - fine. But "taller friends have been unable to close the bathroom door if they need to sit."? That's f#cking disgusting and wrong. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
December 13, 200915 yr you should try it for a week; see how the other half lives! Honey I'm 6'4", how the hell am I going to fit in there? My skin is crawling just looking at that!
December 13, 200915 yr ^6'4" isn't excessively tall. I think you would clear the ceiling. I just checked the other story that was the inspiration for this one, about a couple living in a 175 sq ft apartment--which cost 150K(!): http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/manhattan/cozy_crazy_couple_makes_tight_studio_R15ToNFTaJE3c17zkw4efP I really don't know how much space I have. I always thought I had 300 sq ft, but I'm not so sure now. http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/

I really don't know how much space I have. I always thought I had 300 sq ft, but I'm not so sure now. I'm sorry I've never lived in a small home. I be claustrophobic! I need my space. My clothes need their space. My bed and shower are very important to me. I need those. That is not cute, just to say you live in x neighborhood. Its thoughts like his that made prices skyrocket!
