Council member PG Sittenfeld is pursuing a permanent Food Truck Park installation in the city of Cincinnati, similar to what Austin TX features and other major cities feature.

Just utilize one of the many surface lots in downtown or use the ones in Pendleton.  

I've never been to Austin but I lived in Portland, OR for a little while. Just thinking about WHERE this would be successful... Quick look at a map makes me think the block bound by Vine, 7th, Main, and 8th has the parking lots this idea needs if it's going to be anything like the Alder St. Food Park. However, with this one, and the others in downtown Portland, I always felt like the sidewalks had a thin layer of the biological stew of a kitchen or bar floor after a busy night. I would prefer something more like what is at 12th and Hawthorne (https://goo.gl/maps/cCGNPgtxTNF2). Greener. Dedicated outdoor seating. Party lights strung from poles. Fun signs. If more people lived and worked around the American Sign Museum, that'd have a great vibe.

 

 

I don’t know if he’s talking temporary hours  or something more permanent. If temporary I always thought a food truck or two would work well in Old St. Mary’s parking lot on Main Street in OTR on weekend nights (provided they’re not using it)

It would be a permanent location.

The ones on Rainey street in Austin are nice and all but its near a bunch of bars that don't serve food and typically don't open til 3 or 4 daily to serve the bar crowds in the evening. The food truck park would work in OTR more than CBD if it follows the same model. However if it were something that serves lunch hour, something between the two areas then would be ideal. 

Old St. Mary's lot would be a great location for this. Now that you mention it, the lot at 12th and Clay would also be perfect. The lot at Jackson and 13th would be good. And Jackson and 12th. Each of those lots is around 5,000 SF. 

 

The 12th and Hawthorne Food Truck lot in Portland is around 10,000 SF. 

I would much rather see a building go on any of these lots.  Permanently designating a lot a food truck area, and hence making the lot permanent seems backwards to me.

In Philly, they have a program that uses vacant lots for food trucks and pop-up bars to bring attention to them so they'll be redeveloped. I'd love to see something like that.
