New garden opens outside a prominent Dayton arts museum

Improvements continue at the region’s prominent fine art museum.

With more still to come, the most recent addition at Dayton Art Institute (DAI) marks the completion of an outdoor garden space, The Velsey Garden. The project, funded by Shary and Matt Price, is part of an ongoing list of improvements for the DAI grounds.

DAI Director and President Michael Roediger said The Velsey Garden Project, located to the left of the museum’s main entrance, has been desired for over a decade.

“Our goal was to offer a beautiful and engaging outdoor space for all guests, students and staff to enjoy, and we are so excited to see that dream come to fruition thanks to the support of Shary and Matt Price,” Roediger said. “Shary and Matt are lifelong friends of the DAI and philanthropic donors to the Dayton community.”
