Every time I drove by on my way home, there were workers on lifts working on the front of the building. I didn't know what they were doing. Not sure why they would have put so much work into something that was just going to be knocked down, but maybe there's just a lot of prep work that I'm not aware of. Yeah they probably deconstructed the facade and will reconstruct it later when the structure of the new building goes up. The elevator core is right at the front of the building so there was probably no way they could leave it up while building that. I imagine they had to spend a lot of time documenting each of the pieces before carefully removing them. If I'm not mistaken, this is how the historic facades on the Hampton Inn by the convention center were incorporated in the new building -- documented, carefully deconstructed, and reinstalled -- compared to the new AC Hotel around the corner where they were able to set the new building far enough back to keep the structure of the fronts of the existing buildings.

Circle Hall: Amelita Mirolo Fine Arts Building: Definitely good news overall. The Mirolo Fine Arts building would make fine apartments or condos with the tall ceilings and warehouse windows. Not sure what they could do with Circle Hall other than tear down and rebuild, but it could make sense as-is for any start up business. And if this sale paves the way for the construction of another building on what I would assume is another empty lot, all the better!

I think most consider the "warehouse district" to be the area out by Rickenbacker, where dozens and dozens of warehouses are clustered together. But there is a smaller "warehouse district" on the northern side of downtown. This is what the dispatch says about the area: "Even though the warehouse district itself has not seen a lot of recent development, the building is near a growing number of new apartments along East Long Street, along with restaurants and bars on N. 4th Street."

I think we see a large parking garage(regardless of our opinions & thoughts people still will need to get to work) in that area or on 4th, along with some mixed use/office developments in the future. Long & Gay have infilled with primarily residential, so I think demand will come back for the above.

August 20, 20213 yr Yeah, hopefully some actual height development comes in this area. There are so many parking lots and small 1 story buildings in that area. Would be great with apartments and mixed use.

Third Street on the west." "The Warehouse District, located north and west of the Discovery District, is in close proximity to its many institutions and public buildings. Columbus State Community College borders the district on its east; Columbus College of Art and Design on its south. Many other significant institutions located in the Discovery District are within walking distance of the Warehouse District planning area."

I re-read the Dispatch article; not sure why they didn't refer to it as such, almost making every attempt to call it something else. My favorite is "warehouse corner" of downtown.
