A collection for all Cleveland MLB all star game and surrounding festivities chatter:

The MLB All-Star Game is coming back to Cleveland!

The Indians and Progressive Field will play host to the Midsummer Classic at newly renovated Progressive Field, giving the organization an opportunity showcase our revitalized city and incredible ballpark.

The Tribe and city of Cleveland last played host to the All-Star Game in 1997, when current first base coach Sandy Alomar Jr. hit a homer in his home park and was named the game's MVP.

Ridiculous.  This is why RTA is a joke.

It's almost as if RTA exists to sabotage public transit in this city.

^ This comes hot on the heels of the ‘Ride RTA for Free’ day a couple of days ago that saw the whole rail system go down for several hours due to a ‘computer malfunction’.

Anyway, to help get us back on topic; I do like the signage for the ASG going up around town. Still can’t stand the logo though.

Fanatics' major presence at MLB All-Star festivities will be headlined by Play Ball Park shop

If you've been to downtown Cleveland recently, you've probably seen quite a bit of MLB All-Star signage.

Soon, you'll be seeing a lot of Fanatics.

The massive online retailer will be operating the MLBshop.com store that will be located at Play Ball Park. The park, which will be housed at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland, is a five-day fan festival that will begin on Friday, July 5.

The store will span 20,000 square feet and have 15,000 square feet of space for MLB licensees, said Brandon Williams, Fanatics' director of global communications. The usual suspects — Fanatics, Majestic, Nike, Under Armour, New Era and '47 — will be there.

^ Changed to "Cleveland: 2019 MLB All-Star Game and Festivitiesimage.png.f91f71ea7c9fe9fda315622651a35fe7.png"

Number of us in Cincinnati would definitely like to see photos of the area, prepped and ready to go for the All Star Game. Would like to see how Cleveland rolls out the red carpet for the event.

From what I understand it's more CSX's fault than RTA's. It's CSX's retaining wall at the S-curve that's collapsing due to poor maintenance.

I'm hearing rave reviews for Cleveland city as a host....both from national media (mostly tweets) and interacting with people visiting.

Anyone else receive / see any similar feedback?

Not to mention, Cleveland was pretty lucky with the pristine weather for the game / festivities as well.

Any idea if any visitors went to League Park over the weekend?

GCRTA has gotten to be really bad at reacting to special events.

Game 7 in 2016 was on a Sunday, and they ran a "normal Sunday schedule" downtown.

Opinion: Finally, an MLB All-Star Game that reminds us of what baseball once looked like

Bob Nightengale, USA TODAY Published 1:41 a.m. ET July 10, 2019 | Updated 8:22 a.m. ET July 10, 2019

It was that kind of wondrous night, and really an ideal All-Star weekend, from the Home Run Derby to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame party to the game.

“I thought the city of Cleveland did a fantastic job,’’ NL manager Dave Roberts said. “The logistics, the city, the weather, the fans [during] the parade, during the game, attentive, cheering for past and present Indians and they were just really engaged.

“So Major League Baseball and the city of Cleveland got it right.’’

The whippersnapper had a ball. Granted it's an 11 y/o point of view.

My nephew was at events and said clients are very impressed with

the city overall

the green space

the vibrancy and cleanliness of the gateway area and Downtown

the plentiful restaurants

Ease of getting to/from airport

Ease of walking downtown and abundance of quality hotels

Lots of people outside of the region had favorable comments.
