I guess it makes sense because we went from 25 years of no major new builds to a dozen over a few years. So many projects end up increasing their labor costs by 50-60%+ because they have to move people here from places like Chicago, NYC, Houston, etc for 2 years to be able to get things done in a decent timeline. Giving them a $3,500 apartment budget, $70 daily food per diems, daily car and travel per diems, and all of the works. We don't have a large enough local workforce to have more than 2 or 3 taller cranes up at any given time. I wonder how many more projects we could get actually built if we had a big jump in local laborers to drive those costs down, especially now with interest rates starting to come back down. October 17, 2024Oct 17 Yes, l have long been touting the trades as a simple and quick way to a comfortable future compared to the time and money it takes to get a college degree. Not to mention many of those degrees don't lead to high paying jobs anyway. We've had decades of societal propaganda denigrating tradional blue collar work. Blue collar jobs are not all the same. Skilled trades are not only a great way to make a comfortable living they have become a necessity since that negative propaganda has lead to a shortage of people trained in them.

March 4Mar 4 Also, WXZ's Taylor Tudors project in Cleveland Heights has begun construction. Other proposed projects that have received approval for construction include Cedar Center and John Carroll Gateway.
March 4Mar 4 Renovation of former UCC is on going as well as Erieview Tower to name a couple more. I glad to see WXZ is finally starting Taylor Tudors. They are missing in action on a number of their other proposed projects.
