Posted July 2, 20195 yr https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1hYus-E7IgaacmAAAssutcXdut_VGGOeO&usp=sharing This is a map I'm developing that will track any construction news in Cleveland whether it is new construction, renovations, proposed new construction, parks and infrastructure, etc. I have been trying to update it at least weekly and giving updates on reddit but this might be a better place for it. I would love for some feedback and any additions or corrections to what I already have out there. I have seen in numerous posts people asking for a Cleveland map and hope this can be stickied somewhere possibly as long as it's being updated regularly which I plan to. If this is in the wrong section please feel free to move it or let me know where I should post this map and future updates. Legend: Red Target= New Builds Under Construction Blue Target= Renovations Under Construction Green Star = Recently finished New Builds / Renovations Red Circles = Proposed New builds Blue Circles = Proposed Renovations Orange Meeting Symbol = Infrastructure / Parks Yellow Pin = Minor updates (signage, decoration, etc) https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1hYus-E7IgaacmAAAssutcXdut_VGGOeO&usp=sharing Edited July 2, 20195 yr by nammoumj
July 2, 20195 yr Author Im pretty sure I can add admin rights so we can have a few people who can edit it if anyone is interested. I would probably limit it to a handful of people just so things can look consistent and we wouldn't interfere with each other. In the mean time if there are any additions or modifications please let me know.
July 2, 20195 yr How about $1 million east side; $2 million west side or 10,000+ sf anywhere? $1 million can include a bunch of infill houses by the same developer in the same area. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
July 2, 20195 yr Author I wanted to focus on the bigger projects first and as I get caught up maybe I can add another category for smaller yet significant construction projects or rehabs.
July 2, 20195 yr Sounds like a great idea! The link to the map isn't working for me, though (and I cleared my cookies, as Google suggested)

July 2, 20195 yr Excellent Map!! I like all the info that you can see or visit via your links. Much thanks!!
July 2, 20195 yr @bdaily posted his own heat map yesterday. There are points on his map that aren't on this one. A few larger Tremont projects for example: 1. West 5th and Jefferson -- 10 new townhomes + renovation of mixed use building into 6 condos plus storefront. 2. Grosvenor Place at West 7th and Jefferson Ave -- 21 unit apartment building 3. 11 Fairfield at West 11th and Fairfield Ave -- 75 unit apartment building Might be worth combining the effort. July 3, 20195 yr @Mendo @nammoumj contacted me the first time I posted the map a few months back but I never saw a response. Willing to combine efforts. The use of pins to indicate phase of design/construction/completion is better organized than mine which is by neighborhood. At this point it is probably only worth referencing mine for links/details and adding whatever missing projects using nammoumj's map. Edited July 3, 20195 yr by bdaily
July 3, 20195 yr Thanks for your efforts on developing and maintaining this map! It makes things a lot easier keeping up with all the stuff going on. Much obliged!

It was my fault because I wasn't actually logged in anymore and was only viewing as a guest. If you want to shoot me your email I can invite you and we can work on it together and maybe merge your map with mine if that works. I also try to keep a little log of what was updated so I can post weekly additions, changes, etc. So maybe we can coordinate that also if we both end up working on it. I will probably also add the year to the completed projects so we can keep track. I was thinking of doing a layer for each year completed but it appears there might be a limit on the amount of layers so maybe just putting a note with the year completed in the title would work.
July 5, 20195 yr If you're curious about FORMER (like 1830s) development of the brewery scene, check out this app I put together for a conference earlier this year (it's an animation of breweries opening from around 1830-1980): https://veganbrisket.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=19628b56e7f8479c9261b7700272616c Also, here's current breweries by their date opened (timelapse): https://veganbrisket.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=fca75ab41c884218bfe9236f80303ba8 And finally, if you have out of towners looking for local beer or coffee near downtown here ya go: https://veganbrisket.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=94602106e5b3423981c98ead10b876d6 Ideally I'd like to do a heatmap of projects coming online based on what yinz have already put together ? cheers and happy friday!

August 22, 20195 yr Author If anyone has any links or resources for the additions please let me know and I can add them in. Also I think the hardest thing so far has been actually figuring out if something has moved from proposed to under construction or from under construction to completed. The latest additions are the following: New Proposed Construction: * Cleveland Clinic Neurological Institute * Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute * Brooks Biorepository * Ashbury Apartments * East 70th Street Apartments * Ward 1 Recreation Centerhttps://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1hYus-E7IgaacmAAAssutcXdut_VGGOeO&usp=sharing
August 22, 20195 yr ^Great map. Thanks for putting it together. Looking only at 'new under construction' I saw the new Max Hayes HS. Its not really going to be called "West Side HS" is it? I assume (hope) that that is just a placeholder being used by CMSD? There are a million names, whether of geographic places (like "Near West HS" or "W. 45 St HS") or of people that are better than "West Side" HS--that's a name you'd see in a small town when there are two high schools one each "side" of town.
August 22, 20195 yr The school being built on Detroit is not the new Max Hayes. The new Max Hayes is already built and has been open for a few years now. It is located by I-90 on W. 65th. It's huge, and state of the art. If you have a beater car they take them as donations to use as project cars, btw.

August 30, 20195 yr ^got it, thanks. So it will be a "campus" for the new Garrett Morris School of Science and a new school I presume yet to be named. That's good. I hated the "West Side HS" name. So two schools.
August 30, 20195 yr ^Ah, thanks! As I typed that something felt strange, but couldn't quite place it. I'm dating myself. Garrett Morris was from Saturday Night Live back in the day.
November 4, 20195 yr I haven't seen this posted anywhere, but I may be blind. Cleveland Q1 2019 map Berkadia Some projects on this are new to me, and some of them I thought have been canceled, but this is at least a half year old. Boy, the totals on those last 3 pages really show how much progress is happening, as well as how much is in the works. I know we aren't going to get everything on the list, but it's still exciting to see how many projects have moved from "prospective" and "planned" to "CONSTUCTION" within the year.?
January 19, 20205 yr Breen is the son of former Sherwin-Williams CEO John G. Breen whose name adorns the Flats R&D center.... IMG Center owner asks court to OK sale Downtown Cleveland building owner James Breen is trying an unexpected tactic to get his 16-floor IMG Center out of a Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court foreclosure proceeding. Attorneys for Breen, who holds the building in a company named after its 1360 E. Ninth St. address, have asked Judge Daniel Gaul to authorize the sale of the property to a new owner in a Jan. 8 court filing. The court had not acted on the motion by Thursday, Jan. 16, nor had it scheduled a hearing on the matter. https://www.crainscleveland.com/real-estate/img-center-owner-asks-court-ok-sale "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
February 4, 20205 yr Author Looking for assistance on this map - https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1hYus-E7IgaacmAAAssutcXdut_VGGOeO&usp=sharing I have been trying to keep up but its hard to know when some of the proposed projects have started and which ones that were under construction are completed. If anyone can look at this map and provide any updates I would appreciate it. Also if there are any new or proposed projects which are missing you can just post them here and I'll get them added. Depending on the response I get I'll probably ask once a month for any updates and I'll always welcome any additions that people send my way. Thanks in advance!

February 4, 20205 yr Nearwest side: Astrup Bldg on W. 25: "Construction workers are at work transforming the former Astrup Awning Plant to The Astrup Community Arts Center, 2937 W. 25th St. after financial experts hired by developer Rick Foran closed a $12.4 million financial package for it in late December with 14 sources of capital. As a historic renovation project, the work is most apparent from the Castle Avenue side of the building, where windows have been removed and dumpsters are filling with material from the building's interior. The structure started life in 1911 as the home of a sailmaker for ships, but was best known in recent decades as an awning-maker under the Astrup name. Foran hopes a law firm or other professional services firm may take some office space in the renovated building, but most of it is spoken for by a half-dozen organizations serving the Clark-Fulton area and its Hispanic community, from arts organizations, nonprofits and social crisis services to local businesses...." https://www.crainscleveland.com/stan-bullard-blog/west-side-continues-gain-more-realty-projects there may be some other projects in that article also of interest.
