This is a map I'm developing that will track any construction news in Cleveland whether it is new construction, renovations, proposed new construction, parks and infrastructure, etc.

 

I have been trying to update it at least weekly and giving updates on reddit but this might be a better place for it.

 

I would love for some feedback and any additions or corrections to what I already have out there. 

 

I have seen in numerous posts people asking for a Cleveland map and hope this can be stickied somewhere possibly as long as it's being updated regularly which I plan to. 

 

If this is in the wrong section please feel free to move it or let me know where I should post this map and future updates.

Good map! Any way you could make it so users could add spots?

Im pretty sure I can add admin rights so we can have a few people who can edit it if anyone is interested. 

 

I would probably limit it to a handful of people just so things can look consistent and we wouldn't interfere with each other. 

 

In the mean time if there are any additions or modifications please let me know. 

What's a good size cutoff for projects to get on the map?

How about $1 million east side; $2 million west side or 10,000+ sf anywhere? $1 million can include a bunch of infill houses by the same developer in the same area.

I wanted to focus on the bigger projects first and as I get caught up maybe I can add another category for smaller yet significant construction projects or rehabs. 

Sounds like a great idea! The link to the map isn't working for me, though (and I cleared my cookies, as Google suggested)

What is it saying when you click the link?  What device and browser are you using? Just curious to see if this is a broader issue.

Nice! Please consider adding the Towpath Trail, Lake Link Trail, Edgewater Beach House, former US Coast Guard Station, & Wendy Park redesign.

@bdaily posted his own heat map yesterday. There are points on his map that aren't on this one. A few larger Tremont projects for example:

 

1. West 5th and Jefferson -- 10 new townhomes + renovation of mixed use building into 6 condos plus storefront.

2. Grosvenor Place at West 7th and Jefferson Ave -- 21 unit apartment building

3. 11 Fairfield at West 11th and Fairfield Ave -- 75 unit apartment building

 

Might be worth combining the effort.

@Mendo @nammoumj contacted me the first time I posted the map a few months back but I never saw a response. Willing to combine efforts. The use of pins to indicate phase of design/construction/completion is better organized than mine which is by neighborhood. 

At this point it is probably only worth referencing mine for links/details and adding whatever missing projects using nammoumj's map.

Sorry I never saw your response. It was my fault because I wasn't actually logged in anymore and was only viewing as a guest.

If you want to shoot me your email I can invite you and we can work on it together and maybe merge your map with mine if that works.

I also try to keep a little log of what was updated so I can post weekly additions, changes, etc. So maybe we can coordinate that also if we both end up working on it. 

I will probably also add the year to the completed projects so we can keep track. I was thinking of doing a layer for each year completed but it appears there might be a limit on the amount of layers so maybe just putting a note with the year completed in the title would work.

Yup. I'll get it moved. This is part of the reason I send updates also so people can verify things are correct and give me tips on additional entries.

I don’t think there is a specific plan for that plot yet.  There was talk of apartments/mixed use, but haven’t heard much recently.

Also I think the hardest thing so far has been actually figuring out if something has moved from proposed to under construction or from under construction to completed. If anyone has any updates or corrections for the map please let me know.

^Great map. Thanks for putting it together. Looking only at 'new under construction' I saw the new Max Hayes HS.  Its not really going to be called "West Side HS" is it? I assume (hope) that that is just a placeholder being used by CMSD?  There are a million names, whether of geographic places (like "Near West HS" or "W. 45 St HS") or of people that are better than "West Side" HS--that's a name you'd see in a small town when there are two high schools one each "side" of town.

The school being built on Detroit is not the new Max Hayes.  The new Max Hayes is already built and has been open for a few years now.  It is located by I-90 on W. 65th.  It's huge, and state of the art.

 

If you have a beater car they take them as donations to use as project cars, btw.

^got it, thanks. So it will be a "campus" for the new Garrett Morris School of Science and a new school I presume yet to be named. That's good. I hated the "West Side HS" name. So two schools.

Cleveland Q1 2019 map Berkadia

Some projects on this are new to me, and some of them I thought have been canceled, but this is at least a half year old.

 

Boy, the totals on those last 3 pages really show how much progress is happening, as well as how much is in the works. I know we aren't going to get everything on the list, but it's still exciting to see how many projects have moved from "prospective" and "planned" to "CONSTUCTION" within the year.?

IMG Center owner asks court to OK sale

 

Downtown Cleveland building owner James Breen is trying an unexpected tactic to get his 16-floor IMG Center out of a Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court foreclosure proceeding.

 

Attorneys for Breen, who holds the building in a company named after its 1360 E. Ninth St. address, have asked Judge Daniel Gaul to authorize the sale of the property to a new owner in a Jan. 8 court filing. The court had not acted on the motion by Thursday, Jan. 16, nor had it scheduled a hearing on the matter.

I have been trying to keep up but its hard to know when some of the proposed projects have started and which ones that were under construction are completed. If anyone can look at this map and provide any updates I would appreciate it.

Also if there are any new or proposed projects which are missing you can just post them here and I'll get them added. 

Depending on the response I get I'll probably ask once a month for any updates and I'll always welcome any additions that people send my way.

Construction has started on Ashbury Apartments, Uptown Phase 3, Maltz, and Hough-Ansel. Construction has finished on La Collins, Circle North, and BoxSpot.

Not listed are the College Club Townhomes under construction at 2348 Overlook, 1609 Hazel on which construction is almost finished, North Park Place townhomes at 11203 Stokes Blvd, townhomes at the intersection of East 120th and Ashbury, Knez redeveloping Hough Bakery at 1519 Lakeview Rd, Top of the Hill at the intersection of Euclid Heights Blvd and Cedar Rd, new CWRU dorm to be built on parking lot #5, first apartment building of Innovation Square at Quebec and E 105th, mixed use 12607 Larchmere building, 121 Larchmere development, the Woodhill Homes redevelopment project, and probably some other stuff I forgot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That 1020 Bolivar project...does anyone have any history on that building? Prior to Bell? Was it related to the Bolivar Building Company in the early 1900’s? Or to FC Bates? Regardless, hopefully that project really pops off. It would be great for that location.

Work in Citizens Bank/Masthead building?
