population: 1,676. seat of morgan county.

not a bad looking place for the size. and maybe the only place to have 3 double letters in the name

6 pictures of a county seat...my new record lowest. i did four county seats today with a combined total population less than my census tract. but somehow i ended up taking 12 hours to do it :| whatever..here is lancaster's courthouse and goodnight

The Perry County Jail looks appropriately depressing -- probably even more seedy and rundown inside than outside.

 

The courthouse in Lancaster has gorgeous cornices. Interesting light in that shot.

A well-deserved bump.  Nice little towns!  I don't think I'd heard of either one.

A bit of trivia for you. I forget when, but it was probably about 10 years ago or so, but Wheel of Fortune actually did a few shows from the McConnelsville Opera House. It was newly renovated, and somehow they landed Wheel of Fortune! I just remember all of the buzz around town over that. McConnelsville and New Lex are very nice little towns in the Z-Ville market area.

Thanks for bumping that, ink. I've always enjoyed Summit Street's pursuit of county courthouses, and it was good to revisit those photos.
