New coffee shop 'Mug Mafia' in works in Oregon District, records indicate

 

It appears a possible new coffee shop is in the works in downtown Dayton near the Oregon District, according to public records.

 

The coffee shop would reside at 200 E. Fifth St., where Smokin' Bar-B-Que used to operate, according to city documents. A permit at the Fifth Street address was filed with the city of Dayton recently by Squeeze Me Lemonade LLC.

 

The LLC name was filed in June of this year with the state of Ohio. The registrant filed the business name Mug Mafia under the LLC, stating the general nature of the business is providing food and entertainment.

Three down, one to go: Third vendor announcement made at The Silos

 

A new burger joint will soon open in one of the region's most anticipated spots.

 

The Burger Bistro is the third concept to join The Silos food hall and beer garden, according to a post from the establishment's Instagram. The new vendor will serve traditional fare with a unique twist.

 

The burger spot, run by Chef Centruela "Cece" Collier, will serve traditional burgers and sandwiches with a focus on quality ingredients and house-made sauces and toppings.

Longstanding Irish pub to expand with new location

 

A longstanding pub in the Oregon District will open its next location in the upcoming years.

 

The Dublin Pub officially will open a second location in Huber Heights.

 

A staple of the Oregon District for over 25 years, Dublin Pub now will expand and open its new location on Executive Boulevard near the Rose Music Center. The restaurant will be known as Dublin 7.

Take a look inside Thai Village, Centerville's newest eatery

 

A new Thai eatery founded by a well-established local restaurateur will soon open its doors for business in one of the region's fastest growing developments.

 

Thai Village will host its grand opening this Friday, Sept. 6. Located at 5201 N. Cornerstone Blvd. — where CoreLife Eatery used to reside — the new restaurant will occupy 3,700 square feet of space in The Cornerstone of Centerville North, a destination for shopping, dining, hospitality and residential living.

 

The restaurant marks the fourth in the Greater Dayton region owned and operated by Suwapat "Sue" Whitted, the owner of Thai Kitchen in Centerville, Hello Thai in Beavercreek, and Honey Toast in Fairborn.

Dunkin' plans two more regional locations

 

A Massachusetts-based coffee chain is set to open two more locations in the Miami Valley, furthering its Dayton-area foothold.

 

Dunkin’, a global coffee brand, is planning its next storefronts in West Carrollton and Beavercreek. The addition of the two cafés brings the Dayton total to roughly 20.

 

A Dunkin’ location will open at 801 E. Dixie Drive in West Carrollton, in the site of a former Sonic Drive-In. Chris Zimmerman, a spokesman for Dunkin’ franchisee Gilligan Company, confirmed the new storefront will start construction by end of 2024, with hopes to open in 2025.

It's official: Here are the four vendors for The Silos, Dayton's newest food hall

 

After months of anticipation, the fourth and final vendor for one of Dayton's most talked about spots has officially been announced.

 

The Silos is a grand development at 800 E. First St. that will bring an ample amount of food and drink choices to the region. The 1.5-acre property will house a food hall with four vendors, a beer garden, and architectural styles not yet to be seen in Dayton. The Silos owners, Wes Hartshorn and Shannon Thomas, have been rolling out vendor announcements since July, and are now ready to announce the fourth and final one.

 

Indigo

 

Indigo, a concept by Katie Mathews of Ordinarie Fare, will join three other eateries within The Silos. Indigo is designed to ground the body with plant-forward food and focus on a pleasure-forward experience, said a post from The Silos social media accounts.

 

The menu will be entirely gluten-free and feature items such as seasonal farm-to-farm table salads, grain bowls, west coast inspired burritos, and a line of herbal "elixirs" designed to support body, mind and spirit.

A new fine-dining restaurant is in the works in downtown Dayton’s Fire Blocks District.

 

Liv Presidential, an upscale restaurant and lounge, is located at 100 E. Third St. The eatery appears to be under construction currently.

 

"Indulge in the finest cuisine from around the world, crafted by our expert chefs using only the freshest ingredients," reads the restaurants Instagram page. "Our menu is designed to satisfy the most discerning palates, with dishes that are both tantalizing and visually stunning."

Warehouse 4 Coffee may open third regional location, records indicate

 

A Dayton-based coffee shop may be looking for its next location in Greene County, according to state and local records.

 

Public records suggest Warehouse 4 Coffee is seeking to plant its third regional location in Beavercreek.

 

In early September, a commercial building permit was filed in Greene County by Dayton-based Moda4 Design. The permit, in the amount of nearly $208,000, requests a commercial addition at 3210 Seajay Drive for a Warehouse 4 Coffee.

SushiNero opens soon in downtown Miamisburg

 

A new Japanese-Spanish fusion restaurant will open next week in downtown Miamisburg. The menu will pull from different cultures with plans to blend some American elements in as well to appeal to all.

 

Located at 20 S. First St. in Miamisburg, SushiNero will offer a variety of small plates, drinks and fine cuisine.

 

The restaurant will offer standard and specialty sushi rolls along with Spanish style tapas. Along with foreign cuisines, the menu will feature some classic American dishes including a burger with an Asian twist. SushiNero will eventually host a full bar, a variety of brews, a big sake menu and craft cocktails once paperwork is finalized.

Chick-fil-A plans next Dayton storefront near Austin Landing

 

One of the most popular fast-food chains in the country is eyeing its next regional site. The proposed location would sit near one of the region's largest developments in recent Dayton history.

 

A proposed Chick-fil-A might soon be coming to Miami Township. The proposed restaurant would be located at 10322 Springboro Pike and will span 5,000 square feet.

 

The location will feature a drive-thru on a 3-acre property and will be situated across the street from Austin Landing.

Troni Brothers plans third regional location in Miami County

 

A family-owned and operated Italian restaurant has announced plans to open its third restaurant, this time in Miami County.

 

Troni Brothers - which operates two eateries in Xenia and Kettering - announced its next restaurant venture will open by the end of the year in Troy. The new restaurant, dubbed Troni Brothers Bella Bistro, will be located at 2311 W. Main St.

 

The new spot will reside in the facility that previously housed Rapid Fire Pizza, which closed down earlier this week.

New sweet treat store on way in Huber Heights

 

A new storefront combining two well-known national sweet treat brands may soon open up in a local municipality.

 

It appears Marble Slab Creamery and Great American Cookies will open a new location in Huber Heights. The dual-branded location seems to be under construction currently at 7624 Old Troy Pike in the 11,200-square-foot Huber Heights Commons Retail Center.

 

The new sweet treat spot will join other eateries in the retail center, such as Bibibop Asian Grill, Wat Da Pho Express, Jersey Mike's Subs and more. The center sits in the Huber Heights Commons, a 17-acre site developed to create a combination of retail and affordable housing.

A downtown Dayton bakery will soon open a new coffee shop that focuses on fast service and fresh brews.

 

Val's Bakery is opening a second location in Kettering that will serve up coffee and baked goods. According to a recent Facebook post, Val's will open up a new grab-and-go style coffee shop at 5707 Bigger Road.

 

The 187-square-foot space will feature a drive-through, enhancing the quick service coffee concept. The stand previously housed Sassy Bowls and is located across the street from Val's original Dayton storefront, which opened in 2022.

Oregon District restaurant reverts back to original concept after two months

 

A local Italian eatery in the Oregon District is returning to its original fine dining concept after announcing its rebranding just three months ago.

 

Located on 524 E. Fifth St., Roost Modern Italian announced in August it would undergo a transformation to its dining experience. The restaurant was to rebrand as "Culina," with a focus on offering a "fine casual" service model.

 

"While the change to the Culina concept from Roost has been well received, our loyal customers have spoken," shared the eatery on a Facebook post. "So much so that the decision has been made to return to the Roost Italian offering classic Roost entrees and sneaking in some of Culina's most popular small plates."

BBQ restaurant to open first Dayton location, second in Ohio

 

Regional residents looking to find a taste of the south will soon have a new dining option located in Dayton.

 

Founded by Sam Jabro and Eddie and Wally Yasso, Prime BBQ Smokehouse opened its first location in 2020 in Michigan. Since then, the eatery has expanded with an additional two locations: another in Michigan, and a third in Monroe.

Dayton restaurant debuts new downtown location after closure

 

After the closure of Italian eatery Est! Est!! Est!!!, the space at 45 W. Fourth St. inside the Dayton Arcade had its next tenant prepped and waiting.

 

Shortly after the closure announcement earlier this summer, Table 33 stepped up to make the space into their newest location. The New American cuisine restaurant traded its previous Second Street location for the new spot after eight years of successful operation.

 

Charlie Carroll, owner of Table 33, said the revitalization of Dayton is a dream of his that proceeded the life of Table 33 and even his own life. It also includes a curated cocktail program and robust wine list to enhance dishes.

New Kettering restaurant has unique name and menu of Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese cuisine

 

After working as an employee at several Thai restaurants in the Dayton region, Pratya Kaewkheaw is looking forward to opening his own restaurant in Kettering on West Stroop Road.

 

“I always worked as an employee in the restaurant, but this time I’m stepping up to the owner,” Kaewkheaw said. “I hope the customers will like my food and my restaurant.”

From food truck to restaurant: Local sisters to launch new pizzeria in Clayton

 

After operating out of three food trucks and a successful catering business for over a decade, a Dayton pizza brand will soon open its first brick-and-mortar location. The family-owned eatery will provide Italian staples and dishes beloved by its longtime customers.

 

Bella Sorella Pizza will open its first storefront this year at 1405 Esther Price Way in Clayton.

 

The growing pizza brand first launched in 2013 when sister duo — Elizabeth Corrado Weizman and Gail Corrado Okafor — teamed-up to bring wood-fired pizza made with fresh ingredients to Dayton. The sisters proceeded to purchase their first food truck at a time when mobile food units were uncommon.

City of Dayton gives the green light for Ohio's first Dutch Bros Coffee

 

A growing coffee chain has received critical approvals to take the next steps in planting its first Ohio location in Dayton. City leaders recently convened to discuss the proposed location, where plans were pushed forward.

 

Oregon-based Dutch Bros Coffee has received approval from Dayton's board of zoning appeals at its latest Feb. 25 meeting. The proposed coffee shop seeks to plant its new storefront at 1141 Brown St.

 

Dutch Bros originally submitted initial permits in October for the drive-thru coffee shop.

Seafood spot eyes Mall at Fairfield Commons space

 

A new seafood spot appears to be in the works in one of the region's largest shopping malls. The eatery eyes an opening date soon, according to the restaurant's social media profiles.

 

The restaurant — named Bleu Wave Seafood & Pho — will reside in The Mall at Fairfield Commons. Its arrival will create new jobs and provide another seafood restaurant to the region, which currently has few such eateries.

 

On Feb. 21, Bleu Wave submitted a liquor permit to the state of Ohio, which allows for the sale of beer, wine and pre-packaged low-proof mixed beverages, as well as on-premises consumption of high-proof spirits.

Smales Pretzel Bakery to return to Dayton Arcade after 40 years

 

Amid a twist, a longstanding, iconic Dayton brand that has served residents for over 100 years will return to its roots and soon open a new storefront in the heart of downtown. The location will reside in the same building it once occupied in the 1900's.

 

Smales Pretzel Bakery will open its second location in the historic Dayton Arcade later this year.

 

The expansion marks a homecoming for the bakery, which began selling pretzels in the Arcade in 1913 and hosted a stand there until closing in the 1980's, according to a social media post from the brand.

Submarine House plots new Piqua location

 

A longstanding Dayton restaurant chain is looking to expand. The newest announced location will be the 11th for the brand in Ohio.

 

Submarine House will open its next location in downtown Piqua. The new sports bar and grill will be located at 311 N. Main St. The project will create new jobs and provide another dining option.

 

“We’re beyond excited to bring Submarine House to Piqua,” said Brody Danner, co-owner of the Piqua Submarine House location. “For us, joining a community means more than just opening a business. We become a partner in its ongoing growth and success.”

A new-to-market smoothie shop will open its first Dayton-area location in the upcoming weeks. The opening comes just one year after announcing its intent to expand into the region.

 

Better Blend is the culmination of tried-and-true efforts by its founder, Isaac Hamlin. The store boasts it is significantly healthier than other chain smoothie shops through its use of low sugars, calories, carbs and fats, along with high protein values.

 

The first Better Blend opened in 2018 and has expanded since with 12 locations, primarily serving the Cincinnati and Kentucky region.

Chick-fil-A seeks first storefront in Warren County city

 

Major chicken chain Chick-fil-A is looking to make a triumphant return to a city south of Dayton.

 

The company's newest restaurant will sit at 6465 Culbertson Road in Middletown, next to Tire Discounters at the former site of Buckeye's restaurant.

 

The location is expected to open later in 2025, according to a recent post by the city of Middletown. It will be the only Chick-fil-A in the cty.

It appears a fine-dining Indian cuisine eatery is looking to open a second location in the region. Permits recently submitted indicate the new restaurant will sit north of Dayton.

Well-known Dayton Italian eatery continues plans for second location

 

Recently filed permits suggest a local Italian eatery continues with plans to open the doors to its second location in the Dayton region after a successful 20 years in its existing spot. The eatery initially eyed an opening date last summer.

 

Troni's Italian Bistro applied for a liquor permit on March 18 for its new location in Lebanon.

 

The DBJ reported last March on Troni's opening plans for its new location at 3855 Lower Market St., which will sit in a housing community, serving Italian fare and a full bar.

The Dayton-area franchisee of a popular, fast-casual Asian restaurant chain is expanding. He will also bring a new Indian cuisine concept to the region for the first time.

 

Kush Patel, franchisee and owner of Fairfield Township’s Teriyaki Madness location and a Rangeen by Eggholic location in Bostin is plotting new regional locations.

 

The new Teriyaki Madness location at 624 Corwin Nixon Blvd. in South Lebanon is slated for a May or June opening. Meanwhile, the Dayton region’s first Rangeen by Eggholic location at 9774 Cincinnati Columbus Road in West Chester is closing in with an opening expected in the first few weeks of April.

Development is underway for a new pizzeria northeast of Dayton. The location signals the second for the growing pizza brand in the region.

 

Romeo's Pizza will open its newest location at 2133 E. Main St. in Springfield. It appears the restaurant will reside in the former Cassano's Pizza site.

 

Opening plans have not been disclosed, but the eatery has launched a Facebook page for the Springfield location and its website says "coming soon."

Just four months after announcing its first Dayton eatery, a growing barbecue joint has inked another deal to reside in the region. The new restaurant will reside along one of Dayton's busiest corridors.

 

Prime BBQ Smokehouse will open its second Dayton location at 1200 Brown St. near the University of Dayton, according to a recent post from the eatery.

 

It appears the restaurant will reside in the former Wizard of Za space, which closed nearly a year ago in May.

Dolly's Burgers & Shakes will host a soft opening today, April 8, in Troy.

CBCB Bar & Grill — also known as Cold Beer and Cheeseburgers — will close its doors this month as a new owner steps into the space. The restaurant, located at 2495 Commons Blvd., will now host a new Italian concept spearheaded by Meef Demnika, owner and operator of two other well-known eateries in the Miami Valley.

By Golly's will open its first Dayton-area location this month at 1720 N. Bechtle Ave. The growing eatery has been solely located near the Cincinnati region since its inception in 1983.

 

The new restaurant will reside in the former Rooster's space, which operated for 11 years along Bechtle Avenue before closing its doors in July 2024.

Booming breakfast restaurant chain to open newest Dayton-area location in May

A popular 24-hour breakfast chain will soon open in a local Dayton-area municipality. It will be the city's first location, adding jobs and new dining options to the area.

Georgia-based Waffle House will open during the first week of May at 9555 Dayton Lebanon Pike in Centerville, according to a social media post from Centerville-area News and Information. The Centerville location has been in the works for years, with the chain first submitting plans back in June 2023.
