July 7, 200717 yr ^ Rumor has it that Miami Valley Hospital may be interested in the property (knowing them, probably for a parking lot  ... i.e. those historic homes they tore down on Warren St. a few years ago for a surface lot). Have no idea if that rumor is true though. I've only eaten at Dominic's in the last few years, but from what people have told me the quality and service have gone down hill considerably in the past few years since the kids took over the restaurant. All that being said, my experiences there have been good and agree with your hopes, DowntownDYT, that they reopen and remain in the city. With Dominic's closed, other than the Grub Steak, are there really any "Dayton institutions" left for family dining within the city?
July 8, 200717 yr ^^^ OMG This is news to me. We have been eating at Dominics fro over 20 years. When we first at there, they were always consistently good. Now, its hit or miss. Some nights it is outstanding. Others is ok. Regardless, lots of good family and friend memories at that location. I'd hate to see them move. But I'd rather have Dominics in a new location than a no Dominics at all.

August 3, 200717 yr Dayton, known for few things more important than its thin-crust, square cut pizza, has plenty of strong contenders. Beyond local favorites Marion's and Cassano's, the area has become something of a pizza battleground with Cincinnati-based LaRosa's and Columbus-based Donatos jockeying for the hearts and stomachs of Dayton pizza eaters. Umm, not real sure if it is accurate to compare Donatos to LaRosas. Donatos = $175 million annual sales (2006)...not counting all their franchises Larosas = $110 million annual sales (2004)...no franchises to my knowledge
August 3, 200717 yr Hooter's closed because of lack of business. With Fricker's closer to I-675 and the Dayton Mall I can see why they didn't stay open. Now, I like BW3 better than Fricker's and your not really supposed to care how the food is at Hooter's but the last time I was there the wings were so small 10 of them looked like toothpicks on those wooden plates. Also, the "talent" was lacking as well and that's what makes Hooter's. With the sports bar craze that is going on now they just didn't keep up with technology. They needed more HD TV's and had more special events to keep customers coming back.
August 3, 200717 yr I'm wondering if that 725 strip has peaked. Back in the late 80s and 90s that was sort of a hot area with places to go drinking and dancing and bar hopping. One of the first brewpubs (or place that brewed their own...I think it was more "restaurant with beer") was there, at that Hooters location. They had their "725 Lager". After they closed Hooters took the location. Now Hooters is gone. Maybe that scene is contracting more toward the I-675/Yankee/725 interchange as you noted.

September 24, 200717 yr Jay's catches votes as top fine dining restaurant http://dayton.bizjournals.com/dayton/stories/2007/09/24/tidbits1.html Despite the onslaught of chain restaurants into the area, few categorize themselves as fine dining. October 2, 200717 yr China Cottage takes prize with best Chinese food http://dayton.bizjournals.com/dayton/stories/2007/10/01/tidbits1.html Chinese restaurants have a long history in the Dayton area.
