August 30, 20177 yr Scottish pub brings charm, quality to Dayton region Scotland is certainly not the food mecca of the world, what with haggis and its other interesting dishes. But the country has an irresistible charm and menu options more agreeable to the American palate. Which brings me to The Highland Stag, a Scottish pub that open a few months ago in Springboro. Here’s what I found. Atmosphere: First off, The Highland Stag may have the coolest name of any restaurant, ever. Aside from the name, the cozy place certainly plays homage to its owner’s heritage with a mural of a Scottish castle on a wall and Scottish music playing from the speakers. The space is quaint with about 18 or so tables, along with a bar, boasting 20 beers and tap and 49 varieties of Scotch whisky. The restaurant also features several TVs, as well as a patio.
