January 25, 20232 yr New Dayton-area cafe strives to provide gathering space for those seeking connection, community The inspiration behind a new café in the Dayton region came from the need to meet people at an unusual intersection of life. The Waiting Room Coffee House at 121 E. North St. in downtown Sidney is aptly named, as it has set up shop in the waiting room of Journey 4 Self, a veteran-owned and operated mental health service provider. Mary Jean Carpenter, owner of Journey 4 Self, often tells those seeking counseling for things such as addiction to find something to do that doesn’t involve drugs or alcohol. Upon realizing that there wasn’t a space like that available in Sidney for people seeking counseling, she sought to create it. “We had the counseling upstairs, and we needed to have a place where we could bring people together,” Carpenter said. “My dream for this place is a place of connection and coming together.” More below: https://www.bizjournals.com/dayton/news/2023/01/25/downtown-sidney-cafe.html "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
