Larry Householder is still drawing a salary as a State Rep.

This situation and Ohioans' lack of interest in this scandal is appalling. I get it, there is a lot of bad sh*t going on in the world... but this is up there near the top... right?

It is sad to me that the Enquirer barely covers it. They're so interested in whatever gossip is going on at City Hall, but they have zero interest in this GIANT corruption scandal at the Statehouse.

The only person who's really faced any repercussions at the ballot box was the alleged whistleblower.

The whistleblower's identity is known. I wasn't aware that the whistleblower was an office holder or was running for an office.

I know it's cliche about truth being stranger than fiction, but here we are again.

Apparently he took his own life. That was too easy of an outcome for this lowlife who created this racist campaign (ironically funded in part with Chinese contributions).....

This will continue to happen until executives start serving real jail time. Financial penalties are a slap on the wrist.

They can just pass this all along to ratepayers or shareholders.

Still in question with the PUCO is whether or not the bribes were paid by ratepayers (which is obviously a big no no).

In July 2019, only six months into Householder’s term as speaker, HB 6 passed 51-38 and cleared the Ohio Senate. Gov. Mike DeWine did not hesitate to sign it into law.

The bill was a huge boost to FirstEnergy as it required every residential electricity customer in Ohio to pay a monthly surcharge of 85 cents and for large industrial plants to pay an additional $2,400 a month, starting in 2021 and extending through 2027.

It also called for an additional monthly fee to subsidize coal plants in Ohio and Indiana, while eliminating state-imposed mandates on energy efficiency and renewable energy. Trish Demeter, chief of staff at the Ohio Environmental Council Action Fund, believes merging the three – the nuclear bailout, the coal subsidies and the rolled-back mandates -- helped secure the bill’s passage.

Ohio taxpayers are subsidizing a coal plant in Indiana.

Why is Rep. Weinstein excited to go visit that coal plant?

Most likely a PR campaign to generate support to repeal HB6.

Interesting!

I would think that the nuclear power subsidies in the Reconciliation bill would be sufficient for keeping the Ohio nuke plants open. Meaning that the only argument for NOT repealing HB 6 (specifically, keeping those plants running), is no longer an issue. HB6 must be repealed.

DeWine and Husted, as well as Yost and LaRose, were reelected to second four-year terms in 2022.

Ohioans apparently don't care.

Anybody at First Eneregy actually going to prison over this?

Long thread on todays testimony. Householder definitely committed perjury. We’ll see that if they add that to the list of charges.

Thread today’s testimony. Pro tip - defendant should never take the stand. Especially when they are obviously guilty. (EG is the prosecutor, LH is Householder.)

I love it when awful politicians perjure themselves - it’s the only time they’re likely to face real repercussions for lying. I still can’t believe this guy was dumb enough to think that taking the stand in his own defense was a good idea.
