There homeless population is Insanity, and their traffic is gut wrenching. It's an urban city that still has an obsession with cars, fast food drive throughs, and parking.

It's an urban city that still has an obsession with cars, fast food drive throughs, and parking. It was built that way nearly from the ground up. It grew up in the era of cars and personal mobility. Like Washington DC the growth was mainly people coming from somewhere else, unlike DC they formed their own tribes. Many came from rural and small town America, where density was not seen as a positive. Any American city with year round warm weather is going to have a homeless problem unless it takes active measures to make them uncomfortable.
November 14, 20195 yr Author ^ make them uncomfortable? making homelessness someone else's problem is not helping anything. but anyway downtown at least you do not see the homeless all over the place. they are mostly clustered in the traditional skid row area. now are they self-clustered? encouraged? penned in? ha. probably a combination of reasons, but i dk. as for being los angeles traditionally being built for car culture, that is changing quite a bit. i can't tell you all the mammoth new apt buildings i saw going up all over the place, like mid-city all along the expo line for example. i'm aggravated i lost pics of that stuff, but its really something to see and its across large swaths. no, los angeles is not blade runner yet, lol, but its definitely heavily urbanizing a lot out there in the core.
November 14, 20195 yr Author ^ what i love about los angeles area art deco is its just scattered around enough that it is always surprising and pleasing to see.
April 21, 20205 yr Nice pics. I got kicked out of that church on Figueroa for not having a permit to take pictures. I also got a lot of dirty looks and rebukes from parishioners for taking pictures while they were praying, as if it was a huge distraction. ? Edited April 21, 20205 yr by MCC

It's not about being a distraction, it's about showing some respect.
