April 6, 20232 yr This building is so strange. Why did they design it so a bunch of units face the parking garage as opposed to facing east? The parking garage side should be the blank wall in my opinion.

That’s the only reason I can think of having it empty of windows. Even though those windows face the parking garage, they will get some sun in the apartments, so that’s probably why it has some windows.

That doesn't make sense though because I can count 14 floors already framed out, all above ground, with at least one more floor to go, but it was announced as 13 floors. If you go back and look at the renderings, you can only count 13 floors. Compare the two pictures below. It looks to be at least a floor taller than the approved design.

Would be hilarious if the developer is just going to keep adding floors until someone notices and tells them to stop.

My theory is the guys pouring the concrete just got carried away and made the elevator (or hoist as I like to refer to it) shaft 1-2 stories taller than it was supposed to be and the general contractor just decided to deal with it, lol.
April 6, 20232 yr Or... the person making the rendering was so terrible at it, they left the roof access off the rendering. Edited April 6, 20232 yr by DTCL11

Look at the rendering vs real life pics and count the number of "regular" residential floors above the garage portion. There are 7 in the rendering and at least 8 in the real life pic, maybe even 9.

Or one of the workers pouring the concrete is a reader of this site and heard how everyone hated it, so they made it taller to make us feel better.

Well, this is an unexpected surprise! It a city so used to height decreases, it's nice to see a project end up (slightly) taller than anticipated. Now they just need to change the façade to distance it further from mirroring the garage next door and my opinion on this project will be vastly improved.
April 6, 20232 yr That sunken garden is looking fantastic! Really can't wait to see the sky bridge converted to an elevated park to really tie everything together. As I've mentioned before, these projects combined could really spur some new life into this section of downtown.

Yes! We need lighting requirements established for downtown buildings IMO. Wishful thinking but that flair goes a long way.

June 12, 20232 yr Renderings for the new Preston Centre steakhouse space are out: Cameron Mitchell reveals name, new details about downtown steakhouse planned for Edwards Cos.' PNC tower project “Cameron Mitchell’s new downtown Columbus steakhouse now has a name. Butcher & Rose will open next summer on the ground floor of 155 E. Broad St. at Preston Centre, the downtown building previously known as the PNC Plaza. Columbus developer Edwards Cos. is transforming the building, one of several high-profile efforts underway to convert downtown towers for new uses. Jeff Edwards, the firm's president, said he is excited for the restaurant to be part of the project and expects it to attract visitors and residents to the development. September 21, 20231 yr I'm still confused as to how this ended up at 15-stories when it was proposed/approved at 13-stories if I recall correctly. I'm not complaining at all, it's just a bit odd.

You know, go the extra mile.
