I wouldn't go as far as blaming the mayor. He's been around for four months and there's no way he's had time for the intricacies of the many departments he needs to fix. He certainly has atleast spent

  • The good neighborhoods are definitely nicer. More housing is being built in this city than at anytime in probably both our lives. Unless you were born in like the 50s.    I have seen absolut

It looked like the garage below Tower City, actually.  That area's always been a little risky.  When I'd go at lunchtime during the late 90s I'd always part outside.

People need to pick their gambling buddies carefully, it would seem. Leave the armed creeps at home.

It's definitely not the Tower City garage. You can see in the video here that it's the Casino's garage on the corner of Ontario and Prospect: http://www.wkyc.com/story/news/local/cleveland/2015/02/11/possible-shooting-in-parking-lot-near-horseshoe-casino/23220745/

At least it wasn't a random act of violence..... not that such a fact matters to those who were eagerly awaiting such an incident.

Ya, Early Wednesday morning at 5:45 AM doesn't necessarily scream exemplary citizens.  Its actually kind of sad. NE ohio MEdia group im sure gives fist pumps when stories like these happen so they can sensationalize it and get reads.  Meanwhile, a pretty benign situation comes off looking a lot worse than it actually is to the non-Cleveland resident

My guess is an argument happened maybe even a physical altercation, someone pulled a gun in the middle of it, and the gun was discharged during a struggle for control of it.  That's the most likely cause of being shot in the hand, I would assume....... that is, unless Dan Gilbert went "Casino" on someone who was caught cheating.

The "robbery" part of it is easy to jump on, but if the victim and perpetrator came in together it has nothing to do with the regular hazard level vis a vis the customers

Cleveland police just released what happened on twitter.  The suspect befriended the victim throughout the course of the night (post strip clubs), probably with the plan all along to rob him.  The second they entered the car together the suspect pulled a gun and took the money (Approximately 2600-4600).  The victim gave the suspect the money.  Here is what pisses me off.  The suspect fired two shots ANYWAY.  The whole thing is despicable.  Ive never gotten in a car with someone I met that night, its just not using your brain.  They say never blame the victim, but COME ON MAN.

Sometimes the victim is dumber than the criminal, which is REALLY lowering the bar!

I just hate that the initial sensational headlines made it seem like a random incident.  Those who want any excuse to berate the city will ignore the fact that this was an incident between acquaintances (no matter how short lived or ill advised) and use this as a reason why downtown is unsafe.

Yikes, that's pretty freaky. You'd think that type of con would be fairly high risk for a criminal given all the potentially identifiable info they'd make available. Lots of security cam footage and I doubt he was wearing gloves all night.

Come-on BelievelandD1, do you really think the victim is to blame here just because they got into a car with someone they just met the same night.

You say you have never gotten into a car with someone you met the first time, but have you ever had a one night stand with someone you just met at the bar, or somewhere? Would you blame yourself if you caught a STD from that same person. I bet not! So why are you wanting to blame the victim of this crime? No victim of a crime, no matter how dumb it may seem as to why they got themselves into the situation should be blamed for a criminal act against themselves.

^ No, and Yes I would blame myself.  Its about being smart.  Im not that dumb to put myself in any of the above situations.    I may have when I was 21.  But I will admit I was pretty stupid when I was 21.  But even when I was 21 I wouldnt be out gambling and at strip clubs at 5:45 AM on a Wednesday morning.  This person is 36.  I don't know.  Pretty stupid.  Obviously the suspect has the evil, but its hard to defend the victim here.

Having some familiarity with that industry, I would be really unsurprised if one of the dancers set this up.  I can easily see the kind of guy that goes to the strip clubs by himself being enticed to go somewhere with one of them, her co-worker, and another guy.  In fact, I'd wager that's what happened.

And someone got paid a "tax" for this.

That very well may be the case.  Still doesn't make it any easier to defend the victim. If that person is so weak to cling onto strippers and another dude, may wanna look in the mirror and see whats going on in your life.

Strap, you've already given this much more thought than the perpetrator.

I think we're judging this guy a little harshly here.  He was out for a night of ill advised, but as far as we know legal debauchery.  He wasn't marrying the stripper and making this guy the best man.  Come down of your high horses, folks.

I don't think it's so much judging the guy as spelling out how its a semi-common tale that has nothing to do with the safety of Horseshoe.

Man, woman found dead, shot multiple times in West Side residence

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A man and woman were discovered dead in a West Side residence Thursday night, both shot multiple times, police said.

Police were called to the duplex residence on the 14400 block of Triskett Avenue after the downstairs neighbors became concerned because the car belonging the victims had not moved all day. They also noticed the blinds from an upstairs window had been removed, police said.

Whoa... Sounds like an execution. I'm interested to hear where this investigation goes.

Agreed.  Certainly someone who knew them.  That is usually a pretty quiet area of Cleveland...

The man didn't have any kind of a drug trafficking record, but three theft and RSP cases in Cuyahoga in 2010/2011.  He might have ripped off the wrong person.

How many murders has Cleveland had so far in 2015?  Starting to sound like St. Louis.

There were 8 as of four days ago

Not so bad, considering there were at least 3 in Warrensville Heights....

Just remember...

Greensboro....LOL.  A friend of mine is a cop there.  His stories match pretty much anything in this area.

Maybe it was growing up with the Dukes of Hazzard, but I just assumed most every Southern city is wracked with corruption. Then City Confidential came on the air and confirmed those suspicions.

Then again, Northern cities (I won't mention names) are also dysfunctional.

I don't know...maybe Canada is a safe haven from this? Toronto looks nice. Their mayor seems like a real swell cat.

"Domestic incident"..... I certainly hope this isn't another incident of a kid playing around with dad's gun.

At 2:50am? That seems highly unlikely.

At 2:50am? That seems highly unlikely.

That's why I checked Google Maps, usually incidents at that time involve a closing bar.

But the reports are this is a 'domestic incident'..... which means it was something that occurred amongst the family.  Keep in mind that there is not yet any indication that it was a criminal act.

Getting a little close to the Clinic there, that might spur some response to this brewing gang war.  (Edit: early reports said two related shootings a block apart, now it sounds like it could be a domestic murder-suicide).

At least the old school mob tried to minimize collateral damage.  The street gangs and Mafiya don't care.

My friends car sustained a bullet wound near W. 77 and Detroit. The automobile is still operational, despite the trauma.

Was that just today?  I was passing through Gordon Square and saw lots of police lights further west on Detroit.

I heard about it last night, so probably unrelated. Though on second thought, it's not out of the question there could be more bullet damage, or a related crime involved. Then you could see that triggering a broader investigation.
