September 2, 20159 yr Separate incident than the one above. Warrant issued for man accused of shooting at Cleveland police officers CLEVLEAND, Ohio -- Police are searching for a 26-year-old man they said opened fire on Cleveland police officers late Tuesday. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Shawn B. Hall with felonious assault in connection with the incident on Lenacrave Avenue near East 131st Street, according to court records. Two officers in a marked police car responded to the area for shots fired outside a convenience store about 11 p.m., and were patrolling when they saw a group of people standing around two cars in the parking lot. As they approached, Hall stepped from the group and fired several rounds at the police car, according to investigators. He continued walking toward the car and fired more shots, according to court records. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2015/09/warrant_issued_for_man_accused.html#incart_river ----------- Credit to Zack Reed who is aggressively calling for Mr. Hall's arrest on twitter: https://twitter.com/zachreed12

September 16, 20159 yr Child victim of drive-by shooting on East Side dies of wounds, police say CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A 3-year-old boy wounded in a drive-by shooting Tuesday night has died of his injuries, police said early Wednesday morning. The boy, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at MetroHealth Medical Center after surgery, according to a news release from Cleveland police. The boy was one of two people shot Tuesday while sitting in a car on East 113th Street, between Union and Regalia avenues, at about 7:15 p.m. According to police, the boy and a 24-year-old woman were passengers in a vehicle with a male driver. Witnesses tell police another vehicle pulled up to the car and someone inside began firing. The woman in the car was struck once in the thigh, while the toddler was struck once in the chest. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2015/09/child_victim_of_drive-by_shoot.html#incart_m-rpt-1

September 19, 20159 yr This is insane. That area has been rough for a while, but this is absolutely outrageous. The sad part is that there is no easy way to stop this aside from more aggressive police patrols or an end to the on going gang war that's been going since April.

The victims were shot just before 2 a.m. on Euclid Avenue between Public Square and East 4th Street, Cleveland police spokeswoman detective Jennifer Ciaccia said. One of the victims, a man whose age and name have not been released, died at MetroHealth Medical Center. A woman and another man were both shot in the legs. Police released no description of the shooter, who ran from the scene. Officers have made no arrests, Ciaccia said. Investigators believe the shooting may be related to an altercation at Bank nightclub. Police ask anyone with information about the shooting to call homicide detectives at 216-623-5464. This post will be updated. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2015/09/several_shot_one_killed_in_dow.html The comments are occasionally good for something, and here there's this: -Someone opened fire on a crowd outside The 9, fortunately only hitting the windows of the PNC building. -Someone opened fire into a crowd at the Latino festival in the Muni Lot. -A Quicken Loans Arena Employee was jumped, beaten, stomped, and robbed by a gang of over 50 hooligans while waking to his car at Tower City. Fortunately he was rescued by an off duty corrections officer. NEOMG refused to publish a single article about it. -Someone opened fire on a crowd outside the Horseshoe casino (right below the skywalk), striking a young man waiting for a bus. The young victim was about to join the US Navy but after 9 surgeries he had to cancel those plans. The NEOMG obscured the location of this incident, and barely reported it at all, and did not show any concern for the victim whatsoever, until 5 1/2 weeks later the police asked them to run security cam images of the suspect. The NEOMG did not publish those cam images very prominently and as a reslult the shooter remains at large. I've sort of assumed that these incidents are tied into the gang wars that have been going on, but is it possible one or more of these gangs are trying to run a protection racket on the city, vis a vis RNC?

I flipped on my police scanner app and listened to the thing develop. At one point the dispatchers had every available zone car in the City headed downtown to assist the officers. I heard reports that there were multiple people fighting with the officers on scene. This was in connection to a dispute at "The Bank" nightclub located in the basement of the May Company Building. That place needs to go immediately.

September 27, 20159 yr Apparently this is a very common thing at The Bank. Yes, they really need to be shut down.
September 27, 20159 yr It's rather disturbing to walk on Euclid on Friday/Saturday evenings and see people lined up at the Bank getting full pat downs before they walk in. It seems when one troublesome club is shut down, another one pops up. IIRC, there was a similar shooting outside a night club by 55 Public Square in summer 2013. The Bank opened last year during the Gay Games. Another one to watch is Cest La Vie on 9th and Walnut... Did the same May Co bldg owners that whined about not getting $25 mil tax credit lease this space to the Bank? Who approves/oversees this?

If you take the Cleveland.com comment section advice and look up the victim's facebook page, hes a wannabe gangster. Not saying he deserved this, and possibly wasn't the shooter's target since he was firing into a crowd. But none-the-less speaks to the kind of clientele they are attracting.
September 27, 20159 yr If it's necessary to run full pat downs on everyone entering an establishment, it should tell you a little something about the clientele.....

Shut down The Bank, and another sh-thole will open up to draw in the trash within a few months, and be shut down within a year for the same thing. "Xclusive". In a way, it's a backhanded compliment to downtown's recent success, that these sorts of places aren't moving into cheaper quarters further out. And yes, full pat down security only means they leave their weapons in their cars. The "urban" clientele can be lucrative for clubs as long as they know it's a short term deal. To call them "problem customers" is an understatement. Unfortunately, in a case like this downtown faces the same issues as changing suburbs: how do you keep the problems out with being perceived as up to something else?
September 28, 20159 yr Did my own investigating, (via social media) this guy hangs out with the same group that was shot at two weeks ago when 3 year old Major Howard was shot. They are also a party to this ongoing gang war on the South East side of town. Seems this is not random (as these types of things rarely are).
September 29, 20159 yr Interesting. It's a shame that we don't have much of a true journalism presence to investigate such connections anymore. From what I can tell NEOMG appears to simply regurgitate slightly reworded press releases for the most part.

Not to mention the African American venues, like the Take 5 jazz club in the WHD and the Stonetown restaurant in Gateway that draw a diverse, often-professional clientele that is perfectly responsible.

For the most part, they are out in the suburbs and are either too isolated to spill over, or the cops simply don't play. It's not just the professional clientele black clubs that don't have issues. Most nights I work we are mostly black, and we don't have issues. The places that try to attract a certain type of mostly black crowd have problems an order of magnitude worse than anywhere else.
September 29, 20159 yr This story is soo ghetto in so many ways its hard to know where to begin... Good to know that kids are looking up to the Heartless Felons as role models though... This is basically right behind the new ugly apartment building on Chester at the Clinic. Welcome to the neighborhood! Self-proclaimed Heartless Felons use shotgun, AK-47 to rob Cleveland man Two teenage boys who called themselves members of the notorious Heartless Felons gang brandished a shotgun and an AK-47 when they robbed and assaulted a Cleveland man....... The victim recognized his attackers but would not identify them to police because he "don't snitch," the report says. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2015/09/self-proclaimed_heartless_felo.html#incart_m-rpt-1
September 29, 20159 yr This boggles my mind: "The victim obeyed and shook out two wallets and $2,500 dollars, according to the report. The teens also took a gold chain worth $10,000, a gold watch worth $5,000 and a pair of diamond earrings worth $1,500, the victim told police." I have never owned anything worth that much money except maybe my car when it was brand new. I can't imagine walking around with $2500 in cash! Mind blown.
September 29, 20159 yr ^My first thought too. That was truly one of the strangest crime pieces I've ready in a long time. It's like a weird fantasy/stereotype mashup.
September 29, 20159 yr Weird to most of functional society? Sure. But most routine ghetto violence follows facts very similar to the ones in the article. Most of the crime, killing, and mayhem in the 'hood isn't a whole lot more sophisticated than that. It is a truly anarchic dystopia.

That's why people don't usually walk around there wearing a small fortune.
September 29, 20159 yr ^Right. I know violence is all too common in inner-city neighborhoods, but there was nothing routine about the specifics cited in that report. At least 100 shots fired? Um, yeah.
September 29, 20159 yr But what facts exactly? The number of shots? 100 shots sure seems like a lot and I would be surprised if that was true. The facts are basically: a guy was standing on the street corner in the ghetto and two kids came up and robbed him. He subsequently will not cooperate with the cops. What is the basis of disbelief here?
September 30, 20159 yr Maybe that 'a guy was standing on the street corner in the ghetto', as you put it, with two wallets containing $2500 in cash while wearing over $15000 in jewelry? If I was the police, I'd be watching to see if this guy files any kind of insurance claim and/or investigate whether he recently visited one of the casinos
