The link is wrong @Frmr CLEder

And so is Wall Street. They did a selling spree of SHW and dropped the stock nearly 5% because it's record performance wasn't enough of a record for them. F' them.

Thanks.

The link has been corrected and it isn't the first nor last time Wall Street has gotten it wrong too. SW missed on revenue and EPS, but still a successful quarter and year in North America; consumers love their SW paints. Performance Coatings Group and ROW were a drag on KPIs.

It's all good. They continue to work down that Valspar debt.

^^ Good info about Sherwin-Williams-especially after they re-committed to staying in Ohio. As Ohioans we are all in this together and this is a little bit of good news for Ohio when Ohio really needs some good news.

This is interesting considering that we have a hiring freeze, they cut the employee 401K match down to 3% from 6%, offered a pretty attractive buyouts that a good amount of people took, and did lay off some people.

Do you think the company will bounce back from this when things "settle down" a bit? Do you see this as a temporary response to the pandemic that will be readjusted after this horrible thing is over/under control?

You should probably mention these are temporary measures.

Probably not good PR to furlough workers then tout to investors that your sales figures are way up because of so many DIY painting projects:

But the figures aren't up.

"The Cleveland-based paint company now forecasts second-quarter sales to decrease year-over-year at a percentage rate in the middle single digits. It had previously forecast a decrease in the low to middle teens."

They're just down less.

SHW stock is at an all time high at over $700. I found it interesting that their market capitalization (65.4billion) is now over twice that of their main competitor PPG (29.8billion). PPG stock is still down a little YTD while SHW is up 140 (about 23%).

Not meaning to bust into your Cleveland thread, but I really hope this works out and you all get a nice tall quality tower. We can be from different parts of the state and still root for one another.

Update on the HQ+R&D project. Please comment here.....

Social media is pretty easy to understand: it's lame.

@Dr_nkBearSee the SHW HQ thread in the projects and construction section. This thread is for business-related news.

Random post, but I don’t get the sense anyone at SW has thought about birdsafe glass - anyone familiar?

Either way, NEO is incredibly important for bird migrations, as many of many of you know. Word has it that there is still time to sway company execs on this. Please consider writing a letter.

Oh no, where does she live? /s

I don't know where she lives now but she came from Minneapolis when SHW acquired Valspar. She also was a Target executive.

Sherwin-Williams hits pause on HQ worker videos
By Ken Prendergast / January 26, 2024

After a construction worker’s videos from the top of the new Sherwin-Williams’ headquarters tower in Downtown Cleveland were posted on YouTube by a friend, the global coatings giant told the friend to delete the video and has clamped down on workers taking pictures of views from the construction site. This comes at a time when tradespeople complained to NEOtrans of an oppressive work environment and harkened back to a paint-mixing TikTok star who was fired four years ago by Sherwin-Williams.

As long as they're not hitting pause on HQ2 l'm good.

I care how companies treat their employees and the contractors they hire. I am much less inclined to maintain my 20+ year loyalty to SW nowadays. They needlessly shoot themselves in the foot, again.

This is a great article. Eventually their antagonistic PR approach is going to bite them in the butt. As someone who is going through a lot of home painting, I’ve been surprised how little SW is in the conversation when it comes to what is cool. Benjamin Moore, Farrow and Ball and other companies embrace their consumers, their communities and creativity. SW is like an angry IBM of paint.

I didn’t realize until reading this article that they didn’t want a plaza where their own workers could eat at lunch on the street level. So anti-social.

Just sharing another viewpoint.  I too very much enjoyed the beautiful videos of the cityscape that were released.  But my guess is if the videographers had casually released only one or two photographs or screenshots, SW would have let it slide with a typical request to stop.

I actually understand why SW would not want unauthorized videos released from their HDQRTs construction sites including the more boring one in Brecksville.

I realize our board is pointing to an ongoing pattern of behaviors by SW and sharing our attempts of constructive criticism to a large corporation. But, I'm not sure we can criticize their ask to remove the videos here especially if it hypothetically discloses a workplace safety violation.

They are ok with the various drone footage we've watched or did they crack down on these videos too?

Cheers!  Carry on.

@FerrariEnzo I joined the forum back in 2005. I remember your posts from back in the day. These photos are breathtaking, thank you for posting them. We are grateful for your sacrifice and your service.

Staff reductions to hit Sherwin-Williams HQ
By Ken Prendergast / February 28, 2025

With Sherwin-Williams due to move into its new headquarters tower in Downtown Cleveland later this year, there may be fewer managers making that move. That’s according to two company sources who told NEOtrans on the condition of anonymity that Sherwin-Williams is downsizing its headquarters staff, primarily through early retirements and/or voluntary layoffs.
